I've noticed over the last couple of days that my VP 150 is making some 'squawking' noises when certain frequencies are present. I can duplicate it by backing up the movie, Tivo or whatever. It's kinda like a vibration or short humming sound. I've isolated the speaker to eliminate room vibrations and still get the noise. Does this sound like a blown speaker? I never push the system past moderate levels. The system is two years old this month.

Any thoughts? I guess I'll try calling Axiom later this morning too.

Thanks.

Does sound like a speaker problem, but... the last couple of times I heard something like that it turned out to be the heating duct above the speaker, not the speaker itself.

Disconnecting the other speakers (not turning them off in the receiver) usually helps to be sure it's the speaker acting up. The other option would be to swap wires between the VP150 and a main (probably better than swapping with a surround) to be 100% sure.

Definitely go ahead and talk to Axiom anyways, this is just something to do if you're bored

Thanks for the fast reply. I'll try some of those troubleshooting tips. I do believe it's the VP150 though as the vibration happens quite often on voices.

Thanks again.

Use the wrench you got with the speakers and a screwdriver and tighten everything you can find, inluding the binding posts. Most often, this solves the problem.

I would give Axiom a call. They can run through some tests to find the root cause.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions. I've tried tightening everything to no avail. I did call Axiom and traced the problem down to either the left or center woofer. It was hard to tell for sure by ear. A new woofer driver is being shipped out Monday. I'll plug it into the left one first and if that doesn't fix it, I'll through it in the center position.

Thanks again for all the replies.
