Diff. between M60Ti and M80Ti

Hullo

Other than being less loud (and being able to connect at 8 ohms), what other differences are there between an M60Ti and M80Ti ?
Does M80Ti sound better because of increased number of drivers ?

There are small but significant differences in sound between the M60 and M80. Both have excellent bass extension and output, and have fantastic clarity in the midrange and treble. However, the M80 is audibly cleaner throughout the frequency range...detail and transparency are up there with true "audiophile" speakers that cost thousands of dollars a pair. I was absolutely mesmerized listening to the M80s, and would have bought a pair in a flash if I didn't have a nursery to furnish (I ultimately went with the M40s). Ian wasn't lying when he described it as the best speaker he's designed.

In reality, until you hear them side by side, you will not know what you're missing if you go with the M60s. There is a huge difference going to the smaller towers because of the absent midrange driver, though.

And I just got the M60s!!
I eliminated the M80s right off because of their size and - from what I've heard - pickiness of placement. I (at least for now) have a pretty small room - only 12' deep. Perhaps I should have done some more critical A/B work. Oh well, maybe my M60s can serve as rears someday.

Unless you get both of them and audition them side by side in your listening/living room, I really don't think you will ever be able to acertain much difference. Your decision to go with the 60s will likely be rewarded with MANY years of listening pleasure - with no regrets! (and your wallet will be happy too)
