OK....I figured there might be some fellow Star Wars geeks around here. Anyone found copies/captures of that trailer from last night yet?

I'm sure it'll be up soon if it hasn't. I HD Tivo'ed it. Sound was digital but it was 4:3 letterboxed, bummer. BTW, I had to Tivo OC which I never watch just to record the last commercial. I should've known that it wouldn't show until the end of the program.

Pretty cool, gave some more insight into how Skywalker gets "converted". Interesting that they didn't give up anything on why he had to start wearing the mask though. One of the other trailers shows it briefly.

The trailer was better than the earlier released one from the Internet. Like you said, it gives you more information and context. I personally am pretty excited about this. At 32 years old, I still get that giddy feeling of excitement that I got many years ago when I saw the first movie. Although I will definitely go and see this in the theater, I am pumped to see this in my home theater when it comes out on DVD.

I have to say, it was a pretty darn good trailer. After getting burned by the last two movies, I wasn't really looking forward to this one (and some of the spoilers I'd read were cringe-worthy). So the fact that now I'm actually semi-hyped for the film speaks to the effectiveness of the trailer. Good job!

You're absolutely right, and I do try to keep that in mind... as well as some of the spoilers, a number of which don't bode well...

I'm not even watching/reading them. I'll see the movie, but I don't have high hopes.

What really pisses me off about the new trilogy is not just how BAD the movies are... it's that they make me look at the old movies as if they were not as good as I thought they were.

Plus I can't get the originals on DVD.

I knew when I posted this thread that you guys were going to start bashing the prequals and lucas again. I have to say, you guys gotta lighten up. Remember, the movies are not made for us anymore. They are kids movies. In that context, both of the prequal movies thus far were pretty good. Yes, Jar-Jar was a mistake, but he probably made the kids laugh, which is the point. If you guys go into the next movie with this attitude, you are bound for disappointment. Have a couple of coctails, think about when you were that young, and then simply have some fun. With that mindset, there's no way you can't enjoy yourselves. Hell, it's STAR WARS!!!!....not a Clancy movie. You finally get to find out how Darth Vader came to be....Get Excited!!!!! (Yes, I know I'm showing my geekiness )

Just because it's a kids' movie doesn't mean it needs to be insipid or badly plotted. Example: Any Pixar move, Chicken Run, (some) Disney movies.

And don't tell me that that stupid midichlorian crap got put in there because kids needed an explanation.

I am excited about seeing how Darth Vader came to be... I'm just worried that it's not going to make any sense.

They are kids movies.

Are they? Lucas is expecting a PG-13 for ROTS, and seems perfectly fine with that.

As per usual, the trick to enjoying this next (and FINAL!) SW release is to expect it to utterly suck flea-infested yak testes. Then when you see it and it only mildly sucks healthy squirrel balls, all will be good.

Regardless of if you like the movies or not, I have a copy of the trailer thanks to a guy at work. About 35MB in size.

I would put it on my web site, but I don't want the bandwidth to by sucked dry.

I'll have it up soon w/o a password. But if my office's network slows to a crawl, it's coming down.

The version I'm grabbing requires DiVx, the xvid codec for video (Mac|PC), and ac3 codec for audio (Mac|PC).

And here it is:

FYI: It's better to right-click my video link and save it to your computer before viewing it.

Extra Credit: There's a line in the trailer that should remind you of Beavis' Cornholio character.

I'm getting about 50KB/sec from pmbuko's link.

I am uploading to my host right now.

My file name, size, and format is different, so I will compare the two as well.

Peter, You ROCK!!!!

Man, you're going to force me to learn about codecs and the like. Oh well, had to do it sometime and it's worth it to have that trailer up on the projector, versus the small TV that I saw it on last night.

Thanks.

OK. Another site to grab it from. This one is 31 megs, so it is a little smaller. It is in Quicktime format...

PS, mine is just the trailer, and not some guy playing with toys at the beginning...

Here is a link (rightclick and do a save-as)...

No problem. With both places to download from, neither of us should get hit too hard.

now I'm getting 17.8kb/s with about 18.3mb done. I'm at work so that may have something to do with it, however, I download work related stuff from my software vendor at much greater speeds...oh well, it is almost done, then I can go home and work in the basement

Peter, I'm bailing out on your route. I installed DIVX, XVID, & the AC3 Codec. When I installed the first two, it would play, but w/ no audio. When I added the AC3 codec, WMP started generating errors and restarting. I might get more adventurous at home w/ this stuff, but going to stick w/ the easier route w/ the work computer.

Thanks Nik for posting the quicktime version. FYI...I'm seeing 19K/sec.

Turbo,

Did the AC3 Codec download as a .SIT file?

The links seem to point to the same file.

My wife was addicted to the OC until we cancelled DirecTV. She tried watching it with the rabbit ear antennas, but the signal too poor for her to enjoy it.

Yes...Both the PC & MAC buttons aimed at the same .sit file. So, I dug around online and found another AC3 codec that had a .bat installation file w/ it. This was obviously the source of my problem. I just didn't feel like digging into why it was botched up while at work.

All I can say is.....wow.

After all of the incredible images in that trailer, I think the one that stands out for me is that of Mace Windu and several Jedi going to arrest the Chancellor. And the speed and viciousness of Darth Sidious response.

The dark side unleashed.....

Thanks for making that file available, guys (I got it from Nick's site - it took a while, but well worth it).

I liked Peter's guidance about expectations. A little graphic, perhaps, but accurate.

Sure, rub it in, why don't ya... Why not share the site?

I actually beat all of you. I got it from the guy at work in about 3 seconds with my USB (2.0) Drive. Thats about 10MB/sec, clearly faster than your 600KB/sec!

Here's a couple shots:

GL was on 60 minutes last weekend, and they showed more footage from EPIII which looks nothing short of amazing. May just can't come fast enough!

Heads up! Don't forget that new season of the Clone Wars Cartoon starts today at 4 on cartoon network. These episodes are 12 minutes long and lead into the opening crawl of EPIII. Also, seasons 1 and 2 have been released on DVD which includes the teaser trailer for EPIII.

Crap, do you know if today's episode is repeated again? I think I have my Tivo setup but don't recall...

I've watched the last 2 seasons. I wish it was HD...

dont worry, in a few days it'll be on the official site, course you'll have to be a hyperspace member to get the stuff (which ought to be a free service...but dont get me started on that)

oldskoolboarder: IIRC, Cartoon Network will also show the weeks episodes on Saturday. Not sure on the time, but I'll find out. Yeah, I wish it was in HD also, and I wish the DVD was in 5.1 or EX; but, still it was excellent in Neo:6.

Today's episode was awesome! As great as the animation is on previous chapters, chapter 21 seemed to be better animated right from the beggining.

Speaking of previous chapters, on the DVD there is a featurette called "Bridging the Gap" that shows some footage from the opening space battle in EPIII. I think it was a total of maybe 6 or 7 seconds but man it was spectacular!

OK, I know there are some "Lucas-haters", no sweat. I'm still a fan. But today, I think the whole thing jumped the shark.

I can't find an online picture, but I saw a blurb that M&M's and Star Wars were doing a Dark Side promotion w/ Darth Vader. The picture showed Darth Vader next to a giant yellow M&M in a Darth Vader costume. Oh the humanity...and I thought it was Pac Man.

What is everyone's concerns in the increased Rating to PG-13? My 6.5yr old son loves Star Wars, yes I'm a good daddy Anyway, mom is concerned that he should not see it, how bad can it be? I'm sure he has caught worse things during primetime. I heard basically it is because of the reference to Hell when Anakin turns to the dark side? No sex, I don't believe

Yeah, not my favorite Vader moment. The kids loved it though. I'd have to say my more favorite Vader moment (outside the films of course) was his use for the Target commercial.

sirquack: I don't know. I was reluctant to take my four year old, but as my wife pointed out, she did like POTC and all of the LOTR movies. Even though it will be the darkest SW movie in the series, it's still SW, and I doubt will turn into a blood bath for the last installment. I'm still not sure what I am going to do; but, so far, it looks like the whole family is going.

I agree MiniRock dude, I think I'll go check it out with a buddy, and then take Jacob, I'm sure it will be fine.

I just can't wait to watch it at home on my own big screen some day...

Now that's what I'm talking about. I can't wait to blast this movie in my HT either.

FYI, midnight madness is tonight, so everything from toys, soundtrack, novel, other books, and much much more goes on sale tonight. I'm not into the toys, but I'll be picking up the soundtrack and the Visual Dictionary for sure.

For what it's worth, we just picked up Episode IV, which I haven't seen since I was 4 . . . And by the time mean ole' Darth Vader got around to squishing the first person with the force, I was back in my local theater, face buried in my father's lapel, shaking with fear. It was the first time I ever saw anyone hurt that wasn't a cartoon. Isn't that bizarre?

Actually, I think is the old man’s heir who has to be scared not the old man itself.

Episode IV was the first movie we ever watched on our new HT setup, just two days ago. My almost-6 year old loved it, seems just inspired by the story. My almost-4 year old was scared and crept off to play games on pbskids.org.
