My 60s, 150, 8s, 500 are 2 weeks old and I love them.
Gave my sub a workout last night with "Titan AE" just the hear the bass not for the movie.
This is my leap from Bose to real life. And WAF may keep me at this level. But before I finish my 30 days I thought I would ask about 60 vs 80.
I am a low to mid volume listener. 3240 Cu ft room. 60s are 10 ft from listener and 12 ft apart (placement by WAF). If $ is not a factor, would a step up to 80s be worth any difference in sound quality. Should I send back the 8s and use the 60's as surrounds? 98% HT, 2 % music.

Just my opinion, but I don't think you'd gain that much, at those listening distances and volumes, by going from the 60s to the 80s as mains. AND, I think you'd lose something by going to the 60s as rears for HT, and returning the QS8s.

Now if you wanted to go to a 7.1 config, and listen to a lot of SACDs and DVD-As, with 80s as fronts, QS8s as side surrounds, and 60s as rear surrounds..............

i would have to agree with jack here.

i dont think the 80's would be any help, especially if you are a "low to mid volume listener". the sound on the 60's and 80's are supposed to be very similar, with the 80's just having the ability to go louder. if you are not going to go louder, then i dont see the need for them.

The 80s can also go a bit lower in frequency response. But, if you're crossing over to a sub and primarily watching movies, that will be no advantage either.

I agree with both of them.

Enough said. I'll be content. I'll put the boxes in storage.
Thanks for replies.

I agree with all of the above. In regards to the boxes, make sure you save space by putting the smaller one's inside of the bigger ones.

If you're sure you like your M60s, why not get the M80s in a high-gloss custom finish? I think the high gloss finish on your mains will keep you in love a little longer than the M60s regular clothes. That would be a smokin' upgrade beyond the marginal upgrade in sound quality.

Man, I wish I could rationalize/afford the high gloss finish. Anyone have it? I bet the walnut's gorgeous.
