Apologies if this has already been answered - or if things chance before I get this posted

I have been browsing the web site, and I notice that, at least at the time of posting, there are some differences between the English US & Canadian site. For example, there are more HT options on the US site, and that some of listed specs for certain speakers include frequency response curves that don't appear on the Canadian site.

Are these HT offerings only available to US customers or is this simply a case of the web site updates being "in progress" (I totally understand that, managing a web site myself!)

One further question regarding the curves: are these anechoic measurements for on-axis response?

Thanks for any info!

Bill

I seem to remember a discussion about this recently. I do believe Amie from Axiom mentioned that they are in the process of making some changes to the websites. Not sure why the changes have not been replicated to the Canadian version. I think the offerings are worldwide, but I'm sure you could email Axiom for a accurate response.

Can't help ya on the on-axis question, I"m sure others will chime in soon...

The quickest way I can tell which site I am on.

1. US site: "Axioms give a clear transparent window to the performance."

2. Canadian site: "Axioms give a clear transparent window to the performance eh?"

Sorry, couldn't resist.

The US site was revamped first; I imagine the Canadian site will look like the US site some time soon. As others have pointed out, translating from American to Canadian is time-consuming, expensive and painstaking work

If I had to *guess* why the delay, I imagine the Axiom team is working on having a single copy of the web pages with the right prices etc... pulled in depending on locale, rather than multiple sets of pages each having to be maintained independently.

Thanks guys - I'm sure it is just a case of finding a skilled translator

Fortunately I've spent enough time in the states that I've learned to read "American" reasonably well!

Hello;

Yup, we're doing as fast as we can on all the sites - but it's sunny in Canada and that means less time working, more time in 'meetings' on the dock.

The graphs are anechoic on-axis responses.

And to my accented ears, I always thought the call was Koo-Rooo-ko-ko-ko-ko, but maybe it's a regional thing . . .

TNTguy, nice use of the 'eh'!

Amie,

Thanks for the response - I know what you mean about the weather (though I'm on the other side of the country - Victoria BC)

I was looking at the graph for the M60 - very smooth response! I haven't ordered any speakers at this point in time, but I'm leaning towards a pair of M60s as an upgrade to a 2 channel stereo. I do need to do some more auditioning, but I doubt I can find anything with a flat response like the M60 for my budget...

Interesting thing about the McKenzie characters: they were originally created on a lark to mock CRTC rules regarding Canadian content. For those who don't know, the CRTC is a body that governs broadcast (audio & video) in Canada.

At the time of the SCTV broadcasts, they had some rules regarding minimum levels of "Canadian Content" (whatever that is). So, enter a couple of beer swilling Canadians, eh?

They had no idea that it would even be remotely popular.

Cheers,

Bill

The water's around 58* here today bigjohn - you *may* jump in quick - you DEFINITELY jump out quick!

I had no idea Strange Brew was in response to the CRTC rulings! Isn't that funny? One of my girlfriends just left Victoria on a little yellow Honda scooter, aiming for Lake of Bays. Her emails are turning us all grey! But she sure misses Victoria . . .

I am just jealous that's all. After all you Canadians can possess those high powered toilets and us Americans can't have them. Oh well.

For those who have no clue what I am talking about Dave Barry has written numerous columns on high powered toilets being illegally "exported" into the US from Canada. Congress made it illegal to have high flush toilets here in the US after the Water conservation act in the early '90s. So some greedy and ruthless Americans have decided they must have these toilets at any cost. Vile scum! Pretty dang funny. If anyone wants a good laugh, I can see if I can dig up one of those columns.

Bob Okay, good day, this is our Christmas part of the album, and you can play this at your Christmas parties, uh, or to yourself on Christmas Eve, if there's nothing else to do.
Doug Good day, eh? In case you thought, like, I wasn't on this part!
Bob Oh, I guarantee ya, you'd be on. Okay, so, good day, this is the Christmas part, and, we're gonna tell you what to get, uh, your true love for Christmas.
Doug Look out the window!
Bob Where?! Whadda ya doing?
Doug Snow, hosehead.
Bob Wha? Oh, it's the Great White North, and it's snowing, cause it's Christmas time. Hey, hoser!
Doug What?
Bob Here's a quiz. Quiz for Doug.
Doug Okay, I have my thinking touque on.
Bob Yeah, right. What are the twelve days of Christmas? Cause, figure it out, right. Christmas is when?
Doug Uh, the 25th.
Bob Right, and what's the 24th, Christmas Eve, right? So, that's two. And then, what's after that?
Doug Um... Uh, Wrestling Day.
Bob No. Get out.
Doug Boxing Day, yeah, yeah.
Bob That's three. Then what's after that? Nothing.
Doug New Year's.
Bob Four. And what's...
Doug New Year's Eve.
Bob Five. Where do you get twelve?
Doug Uh... There's two Saturdays and Sundays in there, that's four. That's nine. And, three other days, which I believe are the mystery days.
(Music starts.)
Bob Okay now. This is our Christmas song, in case you don't know what to get somebody for Christmas.
Doug There's lots of ideas in here, so, listen, and don't get stuck.
Bob Okay.
Doug By the way, that's me on the organ.
Bob Aw, geez.
Doug You start.
Bob Okay. On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: a beer.
Doug On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: two turtlenecks,
Bob And a beer. (Okay...) On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: three French toast,
Doug Two turtlenecks,
Bob And a beer. (Okay...)
Doug There should be more there, eh?
Bob Where? On the... go.
Doug Fourth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: four pounds of backbacon,
Bob Three French toast,
Doug Two turtlenecks,
Bob And a beer.
Doug In a tree. See, you need more.
Bob Fifth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: five golden touques!
Doug Four pounds of backbacon,
Bob Three French toast,
Doug Two turtlenecks,
Bob And a beer, what was it?
Together In a tree!
Bob Okay, on the sixth... go.
Doug Of Christmas, my true love gave to me: six packs of two-four,
Bob & BG Singers Five golden touques!
Doug Four pounds of backbacon,
Bob Three French toast,
Doug Two turtlenecks,
Bob And a beer,
Together In a tree!
Bob Okay.
Doug Okay.
Bob On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me: seven packs of smokes,
Doug (Nice gift...) Oh, six packs of two-four! (BG Singers also sing "nice gift".)
Bob & BG Singers Five golden touques!
Doug Four pounds of backbacon,
Bob Three French toast,
Doug Two turtlenecks,
Bob And a beer,
Together In a tree!
Bob Right, I keep forgetting.
Doug Phew! This should just be the two days of Christmas, it's too hard for us!
Bob Um...
Doug Go, hoser.
Bob Oh.
Together Eigth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me:
Doug Eight comic books,
All Seven packs of smokes, six packs of two-four,
(Bob and Doug become unsynchronized with the BG Singers, and quit singing.)
BG Singers Five golden touques! Four pounds of backbacon, three French toast, two turtlenecks,
All And a beer,
Doug On my tree!
Bob Yeah. That beer's empty. Okay. Day,
BG Singers Twelve!
Bob Uh, twelve.
Doug Good day, and welcome to day twelve.
BG Singers Five golden touques!
All Four pounds of backbacon, three French toast, two turtlenecks, and a beer, in a tree!
Bob Beauty, eh?
Doug Where'd you learn to do that?
Bob Uh, albums.
Doug Boy. So, like, that's our song, Merry Christmas...
Bob Merry Christmas!
Doug And good day!
Bob Good day, everybody. Happy New Year, too. Sheesh. Okay, you know what you left out?
Doug What?
Bob Donuts - I told you to get me donuts! Either on the ninth day or the tenth day, or the eleventh day, I wanted donuts!
Doug Okay, the song's over.
Bob But I want...
Doug Merry Christmas, everybody!
Bob Or on the twelfth day, you coulda got me a dozen donuts.
Doug So, go out to the stores, and get some presents.
Bob You coulda gone down to, like, the good donut shop, where if you buy a dozen, you get another one free, and then thirteen for the thirteen days of Christmas.
Doug Well, next Christmas, I'll get me a chainsaw...
Bob Take off!
Doug Boy, that song was a beauty. It moved me...
Bob Yeah, I think it ranks up there with Stairway to Heaven...
Doug Wha-?
(Music fades.)

Hi Amie,

Victoria is pretty nice this time of year

The movie "Strange Brew" wasn't in itself a response to the CRTC, but the very first Bob & Doug skit on SCTV was - I think they were getting some flack about not having enough "Canadian content". They honestly didn't think it would go anywhere and were shocked when the audiences loved it!

The movie came out after the pair were a staple on SCTV.

I always wondered if the CRTC execs realized that the whole thing started out as an attempt to poke them in the eye?

Bill

You should take a look at a new toilet from American Standard which uses a new flushing system called The Champion. It was highlighted on the Discovery channel not long ago. The toilet flushes the most amazing array of materials.
Video clip here.
