Just got my new M60's today. Unfortuanly Purolator bashed one up pretty good. After about 10min of listening the lower woofer on the based up unit started rattling like crazy under heavy bass'ed songs. Amie from Axiom is sending me a new woofer today though so I'm not complaining. Now that I have the 60's I have no idea how I'll hold of for surrounds and a sub (got a center last week)!

congrats on the new arivals.. it sure stinks that one got beat up. thank goodness axiom does such a great job of double boxing, that way there was no cosmetic damage. but, those woofers can only take so much bangin around before somethings eventually going to give.
its great that you got hold of amie, and she is getting a replacement sent out fast. let us know your impressions once you get them fired up and can put some power to them.
and pics, we MUST have pics!!!

Congrats James! Too bad about the damaged goods though, tell us what you think whenever you're able to take a listen. Welcome to the board also.

Well I can run them at low volumes with regular music (non Hip-hop / tecno) so the good stuff is playing! Pics I can do! Had them ready before the request.

JM, too bad about the rough handling, but you'll really have an enjoyable setup once everything is together. One point from your picture, although it's hard to tell; if you have the VP100 slightly recessed on the TV bring it a little forward so that it clears the front of the TV by a fraction of an inch and diffraction from the TV is minimized.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

Ya I know the VP100 is set back to far. Basically when I watch a movie or something worth surround I pull the center up to the edge. I find it ugly like that for normal use and the wife hates it up on the edge so we push it back when running 2ch.

James I have my center in an almost identical location as yours, it gets a pretty good workout going from just over the edge of the table top to back in it's 'stored' location. I'm using a cloth placed under the center to keep it from getting scratched.

You might have to angle it down a little towards listener. I got better dispersion that way.

Very nice set up.
In the pic of the busted box it looks like there's a ding in the speaker. Is that so or just a reflection/flash?
With so many people getting bashed up boxes I think when the time comes I'll do the 2.5 hour drive and pick them up!

Psst... might want to flip it upside down, too, so it's not pointed up into the back corner of the room! The anti-standing wave shape of the enclosure also give you two angles to face it up by (and some hockey pucks under the back of it would aim it down towards the listening position!).

There's no damage or marks on the speaker itself from the busted box. There was a slight tack mark on the plastic bag but it didn't make it to the speaker.

Unless of course you're from way down here in the south where we wouldn't know the difference between a hockey puck and a parka. A couple 'a two or three Skoal Long-Cut cans would probably work just as well.

If he turned it upside down it would angle it eaven higher.
Angled door stops under it work great.
BTW: Congrats! and great looking setup.

I actually have mine flipped upside down on top of the TV, so it fires upwards at an angle. It seems to work better than straight on, and that way it doesn't look like it's going to attack me like a pair of WATT Puppies (ie, if I had it propped up to point at the listening position.)

Hard to tell from the pic which way it's sitting... but upon further inspection (and zooming in) I think you're right, Bray... he's already got it with the shallower angle down.
