Hi all.

Im strongly considering the EP500. Compared to other subs (Ive read all the reviews, you know which 2 I am talking about), does the EP500 provide that "thump in the chest" during movies? I havent read too many reviews on the 500, so I just wanted some reassurance before I pulled the trigger. Thanks everyone!

YES!!!!!!!

I have had to tone mine down to about 25% volume to keep the neighbors from thinking earthquake.

Seriously, to 500 adds a dimension to movies I never felt before. As a matter of fact I would rather wait for the dvd and watch at home almost all movies.

You will have to move it around (not easy to do) to find best position. Or put it in you listening position and crawl around the floor to find the best response spot.

Bug, have you listened to the EP350? I have the 350 and am going to end up doing a sub upgrade to either the 500 or possibly the HSU, I'm just curious how the 350 stacks up against the 500.
Although I do like the 350, I find myself sometimes wondering where the 'rest' of the bass is...I'm thinking the upgrade will remedy that.

I have not heard the EP350.

You WILL like the EP500. IMHO.

SVS PB12 Ultra, HSU VTF-3 MK 2, would be similiar.

Aren't you changing your room size? You should budget a EP600 as part of the construction costs.

All this talk about subs makes we want to forget my idea of getting an mp3 player

I currently have the 350 upstairs in about a 350 sq ft room, and it does let me know it's there when it is supposed to. I am rather worried about when I move to the basement soon though. The overall room will be more like 800-900 Sq Ft total with the HT corner section being about 400 Sq Ft, but it is all open. I'm debating on a 2nd 350, or one 500, not sure.
