One might think that perhaps when the people were writing the manual for the H/K 525 that they might have turned to the engineers and told them, "You know, pressing 5 buttons to turn on or off the zone 2 audio might not be the best idea." Unfortunately, they didn't. Does anyone have multiroom running on an H/K and have any tips?

I have had great success with my H/K multiroom system and don't know what all the complaints are about. I find the user interface very simple. I have an HK630 in the basement and an HK3270 in the bedroom. A single button turns the sound on and off in each room.

Hold on, did you mean multi-room off a single receiver ? Never mind

Thbbt!

Yeah, I'd like to be able to play the same thing in both rooms. When I bought the receiver, I misunderstood what it meant by Zone 2. Oops.

Geez, you're right. Multi-zone is "different material in each room", isn't it ?

I guess what we need are speaker switch boxes, not multizone.

You could always go with a speaker switch box. It may be the simplest way.

You two have me confused.

I used my 7200 for about a year in a 2 Zone configuration. The Zone 2 has its own remote. I don’t know about your model, but with the 7200, you go into the advance menu screen and enable it (which is just using the surround back channels for the second zone). There is a remote ‘remote’ sensor that plugs into the 7200 that the zone 2 remote talks to. After the second zone is enabled, I could select the source I wanted with the zone 2 remote and play at will. If you leave the second zone on, you can hear the same source in both zones, if you want. I could also have one source playing in zone 1, while a different source played in zone 2. Maybe I should take that back, it’s been a while, and I’m getting old. I may not have been able to listen to two different sources. I’ll have to check the manual and get back with that one.

Clear as mud?

Sorry to add to the confusion. I have never actually used zone 2 so I'll just stay out of this...

That's exactly how the 525 is. Unfortunately, I'm trying to minimize the number of cables (and hence the size of the hole I have to drill) through the wall. Plus my wife likes using the Zone 2 remote for main functions in the living room. Oh well, Harmony time...

I'm interested in how this turns out... been tossin around ideas on utilzing my 630's zone 2... although I wouldn't be using the speaker outs, just the RCA out to another reciever.
