Hi,
I've just moved my HT to different room. This room is 11X20, the listening/viewing position is 10 or 11 ft from TV. To save cost, i will need to move M3 to front and plan to buy QS4 (I already have VP-150 and M60[for dedicated 2-channel music only]. IS M3 is good enough for FL/FR speaker that paired with surround QS4? By the way , i have sub HSU STF-2

Any idea, opinion is greatly appreciated.

thanks.

Seeing as you have a nice sub, I'm sure you will be fine. The M3's are a great speaker!

I second that. I ran M2s with a big sub and VP100 center for a while and was really happy with the results.

The only thing the small speakers won't do is play really loud. Sitting 10-11 feet away you won't be able to play your concert DVDs at "concert levels" (do that kind of stuff on the 60s) but for everything else they'll be fine.

Right now I have the 60s on the HT system because my sub is out on loan so the 60s are carrying the bass for the HT system. As soon as my sub comes back the 60s are going onto the music system and the 2s are going back as HT mains (M2, VP100, QS8s, PSB 6i sub).

Thanks for replying.

This is only for HT (80%) and occasionally music such as Jazz or classical music... I alreay have another room reserved for dedicated 2-channel music (cost me money..:) That's why i'm trying to cut cost but decent for HT.

So is QS4 or M2 preferred for surround in my case?

thanks again.

I'm in the direct speaker group when it comes to surrounds..............so my vote is the M2 hands down.

For HT, I'd definitely say QS4s.

I guess I would cast a vote for QS4s if only to give you more flexibility in the future. My QS8s only arrived a couple of days ago so I am not able to say definitively which is better. I can say there is a huge difference and that the QSs "disappear" just as everyone describes -- you aren't aware of having any surround speakers at all, and you wonder if they are even doing anything, until you switch them off and suddenly the room gets real small and the sound collapses to a little space in the front of the room.

With M2 surrounds it's much more obvious that you have surround speakers and you can hear things jumping around from one speaker to the other -- with the QSs you just sort of "know" something is behind you and it's easier to place the sound between the speakers.

I'm going to have to do more testing before I can say for sure (including playing with levels a bit for both QS and M2) but right now I'm leaning towards the QSs.
