I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with or opinions on the Stealth Acoustics speakers. Their speakers are installed in the wall and can be painted over allowing them to be virtually invisible.

I am building a custom home and was looking for a speaker to use in the main rooms for music. I will of course be bringing my Axiom System with me for the true media room but was looking for a speaker that won't stand out.

Their cheapest speaker is the following :

Those speakers are going for $660 / pair. That sounds pretty high for a low end speaker. Although it may not really be low end. I really don't know how to gauge a speaker based on its 'specs'. Let me know what you guys think.

If you want to see a sample of the installation process, check out the following link :

Pretty slick if you ask me.

Anyways, all input is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

If invisibility is more important to you than sonic performance, this is a very good choice. If you can live with some speaker showing, the W22s would be a better sonic bet. Is this for music or for movies?

Definitely high on the coolness factor. From an SQ perspective, probably not spectacular. I can see them being used in a whole house audio system where SQ is not paramount. Almost certainly better than the ceiling speakers builders are installing in their houses as an "upgrade" these days.

If your patient, you might want to wait until Axiom releases their new T Series speakers as discussed in this thread at the recent home show.

I would be a bit wary of any speaker cover that can take 4 coats of paint and apparently not have any effect on its sound reproduction.

Call me wary..

Nope. I call you a scientist that doesn't take anything at face value.

Actually the more coats of paint on a speaker like this the better. I would even venture to say that a piece of thick dry-wall over this speaker is bound to make it sound better that a few coats of paint. Sometimes, silence is golden .
