Hi there, I currently own a set of Klipsch Rf83's and have very recently purchased the Emotiva DMC1/ MPS1 combo. However, the already "bright" 83's sound horrible with the DMC1, really I am talking ear bleeding highs here even at very moderate SPLs..60-65.
I had the same problem originally with my Yamaha AVR but was able to"EQ" most of the harshness out. The Emo has no such ability. I hooked up my Mirage Omni 260 and I have never heard them sound so good, wonderfull.
So here is my problem, I think I would like to sell the Klipsch and find something that really rocks and pounds out the bass but also has the finesse and smoothness for great acoustical stuff. I have had it with those horrible screechy highs so I am looking at the M80's, I have read tons of reviews and really like what I hear plus I live 4 hours away from the factory.
So, if any one has the above mentioned setup I would love to hear your thought please and thank you. I know I can send them back if i don't like them but I am trying to avoid that. I don't want to make the same speaker selection mistake again, my 83's are only 5 months old.
Regards, Chris

More experienced owners will be along with more helpful info but I’ll start the ball rolling by suggesting that you order them for a 30 day in home trial. No better way I can think of to evaluate them.

I’m not an audiophile but a friend of my records and produces music for some local bands. When he came over and listened to my M80s he said that they didn’t sound bright to him in my room. He tested them with music he had recorded in his studio an felt that people might be mistaking their accuracy for brightness. He called them unforgiving when listening to some of his lesser quality recordings

KlipschGuy,

I don't mean to ask the obvious, but have you tried adjusting the tone control on the DMC.

I read that the tone control has no affect on 8 channel analog or LFE so maybe some help is in the DMC for sources other than the analog.

You may want to try toeing in your Klipsches in such a way so that they "focus" about a foot or two away from your nose. That may remove the brightness. As for whether or not you will be happy with the M80s compared to the RF83s, let me just say that there simply is no comparison (at least in my space). I auditioned both side-by-side in my home theater and can summarize by saying that the RF83s are like a monster truck while the M80s are like a finely-tuned sports car.

Yes sir, as soon as I heard the racket coming out of the 83s it has little to no effect.

KlipschGuy,

Maybe there is a "warm" prepro out there.

I don't have enough experience to suggest one.

I just read my email and to my surprise I won the Emotiva $200 off of a purchase contest. I am stunned. I never win anything, so I'm just wondering if everyone who entered won.

So what product of theirs do I want to order and why?

I'll go check that out. Don't be surprised if I keep it, though.
