Ordered last week the Epic60 500 series to go with a Cary Cinema 11 and a Rotel 1075 that I recently purchased. Discovered last night that the Rotel is going to be too tight of a fit going into a bay that is 8 inches high. The Rotel turns out to be almost7.5 inches in height and the manual asks for four inches of clearance.
In talking to my Rotel dealer today one replacement choice is the Class D 1077 amp. Under three inches and also runs extremly cool.My concern is that he said class D amps are very edgy and must be very carefully matched to speakers . Make the wrong choice and it will sound like someone running their fingernail down a chalkboard. Before deciding on the Axiom's I was going with Paradigm Studio 60's that he sells. He noted that he has sold a number of Rotel 1077's with the Paradigms as they are very forgiving. As I found the Axiom's sounded very similiar to the Paradigms will the Rotel 1077 be a good choice with the Axioms?

Hoping to hear from a Axiom owner who is using the Rotel 1077. Talked to customer service this afternoon and it was noted that Axiom has used Panasonic products with Class D amps but no experience with the Rotel 1077.

Go ahead and get the Rotel 1077. If it sounds good with the Paradigm Studio 60's it will sound equally as good with the Axioms.

I've been fooling around with modified Sonic Impact T Amps which I guess are actually Type D low output digital amps. They sound terrific with M3s. Almost tube like.

Thanks for the replies to my post. I also posted my concerns on a number of other forums including a Rotel users group. Every reply came back with go for the 1077. Found a number of threads last night on the Rotel 1077 and some on the ICEpower technology they are using. Pretty amazing that this new direction in audio amps is able to achieve over 90 percent effiency when A and AB amps only run about 50 percent. One reply noted the review of the 1077 in this months The Absolute Sound.A great review and what has sealed the deal for me is the 1077 was considered a worthy replacement for the Parasound Halo 51.If the 1077 had not seemed to be a good fit with the Axioms my next choice was going to be the Parasound Classic 5125. Comparing the Rotel to their flagship amp the A51 is a real compliment to Rotel.Looks like I may be back to the same level as the Cary Cinema 5 which was way over my budget.

Right, Bay; if what the dealer said had any factual basis the 1077 would have to be grossly inept in design since it would have a significant upper mid-range/lower treble inaccuracy. Nothing of the sort exists.
