I have the epic 80.500 surround system and a harmon karden 445 powering it right now, the hk is a fine amp but its just getting to old cant plug in an ipod it dosnt even have hdmi ports on it.
I need something newer.
I was looking at maybe a denon 3312 or marantz sr7007 maybe even a pioner.
Are eather of these amps powerful enough to handle 4 ohms.
I realy like the look of the denon, got loads of features.
any advice or recommendations would be great.
Thanks.

Titan, i think your saying you want a new receiver...

check out www.accessories4less.com

They have quite a few receivers for a good price, several of us on the forum have bought equipment from them with good success...

What is your budget, and what are the primary things you would like your new piece of equipment to do that your current one doesn't... you mentioned Ipod, and HDMI...

Ti, the Denon 3312 would be a fine choice and the best buy on it would be the the factory refurb unit from Accessories4less which Alex mentioned and is specifically shown here for about $600 with shipping included. These factory refurbished units should be at least as reliable as brand-new ones.

Speakers rated at 4 ohms don't necessarily use more power. Power consumption at a given loudness level depends on speaker sensitivity, not impedance rating. Many speakers rated at 4 ohms(e.g., Axiom M80s)are more sensitive than some smaller speakers rated at 8 ohms and actually need less power. The 3312 has more maximum power capacity than your present receiver and should drive your speakers with ease.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.
