I'm looking to audition some Axiom bookshelf speakers in Pittsburgh. If anyone has any setups, let me know. I'm comparing them with the Onix X-Ls's.

Welcome,

If you check page one of the audition thread at the top of this section, Flip22 lives in Pittsburgh. He has m60's. He has not posted since February, but that does not mean he is not monitoring the boards. Just send him a PM message. You could also try sending a PM to Amie at Axiom, she may be able to help...

good luck

Thanks for the input, however I'm currently not in the market for floorstanding speakers. I'm looking primarily at Bookshelf speakers.

The big 3 on my list are the Onix x-ls, Ascend CBM-170, and the Axiom line of bookshelves.

Would there be any point of auditioning the M60's? Would the sound quality of the M60's be similar to that of the M3 + a decent sub?

Yes, that was my point. I think at least you will get a vibe on the quality/sound of Axiom speakers this way. The m22's also have been known to sound like its bigger brothers when you throw a sub in the equation.

G, another welcome, and yes, if you were able to hear the the M60s it would certainly give you a good idea of what Axiom offers, although the bass extension of the bookshelf models would be less(without a sub). The M22s in particular would be very similar.

If you haven't seen the November 1 Goodsound review of the X-LSs, note in particular the comparison made with the Axioms. Keep in mind that if you got say M22s, Axiom offers a 30 day trial period. I can give the M22s which I've had for about four years(bought them unheard, due primarily to the excellent Soundstage review with NRC measurements ) the strongest recommendation.

Hey, sorry I didn't see your post until just now... being crazy busy at work nowadays causes me to be more of a lurker than an active poster. Still loving my Axioms like nothing else, though! Anyway, it would be my absolute pleasure to demo my speakers for you. Shoot me an email at philippe_kline@hotmail.com and lemme know!

Thanks,
-flip22
