You knew this was coming . . . it's the 'Name the Outdoor M3s' Contest! (and yes, Outdoor M3s is taken)
Please give us your best name for this new product. The winner will receive a pair of the new speakers in exchange for naming them. In the case of a tie, first-past-the-post wins. Good luck everyone!
The best I can think of is "WP3v2" (for Weather Proof 3), or alternativly the "WPM3v2" (Weather Proof M3). I prefer the WP3v2. This is assuming that future models for outdoors may be coming out, you can extend the "WP" to to the other models.
Another option would be "WR3v2" (Weather Resistant 3) or "WRM3v2" (Weather Resistant M3).
I guess "WM3v2" could work (Weather M3) as well.
I got no fancy names, did you want a full name or a model name?
-Hutz
Axiom
ElementalsWorks in both the literal sense and also in the figurative sense. They are made to be placed out "in the elements" but the name also alludes to the power of nature: Air, Earth, Water, and Fire.
You can't go wrong.
My pick would be: "M3 Nature Series" (or "M3 Nature" if there is only going to be one)..i,e. NS-M3, NM3.
"Nature's speaker"..."Nature's M3" (slogans?)
Larry
Continuing with the alliterative theme the Axiom Aurora
Apollo. Greek God of Sun and Music (among other things). Can I enter twice? I'm working here, I want these bad (probably buy them anyway).
I think the "Environmental Series" for their ability to "blend in" and co-exist under various environmental conditions.
The E3 would work...!
Axiom "Serenata Series"
Italian for "Serenade": a piece of music sung or played in the open air.
Cheers,
Jordan
Axiom "Patio series", "Patio Line", "Patio speakers" or "P3"
I love contests
I'm throwing in my vote for Peter's idea. I got nothin'.
I'm with you on this Peter's idea is pretty close to perfection
Axiom Outdoor Survivalists or Outdoor Survival Series
Axiom's New Arabesque Line: Decorative and Musical
Axiom's Open Air Series: Axiom Quality for the Outdoors (Wired or Wireless).

How about Axiom Alfresco's.

Introducing the TEMPEST 3's.
Alt - TREK 3s
Alt - BADLAND 3's
I think the speaker name should follow the naming convention since they are M3s under the rugged exterior :-). My recommendation,
1) "External Installation Friendly" shortened to "EIF". So, M3EIFv2 or M3v2 EIF
2) "External Friendly Generation" shorthened to "EFG". So, M3EFGv2 or M3v2 EFG
SerengetiM3. Stands for rugged outdoor adventure and fun.
So far it has been theater on the inside and now its going outside.. Hence the name i suggest would be
1. Amphitheater - the Amphitheater series...
or
2. Colosseum - Best known amphitheare
3. Flavia - the dynasty that built the Colosseum
I strongly lean towards the Amphitheater series because it is intuitive and can be the label for a whole series of them....
Wow, lurkers coming out of the woodwork!
To stick with the current scheme, either OM3 or just O3 (O for outdoor). This is similar to what was done with the W22.
Quote:

I agree. It makes sense.
On the other hand... Calling them "Amphitheater" or "Elemental" is definitely much more dramatic, has more sizzle, more bling-bling.
What about making up a word and then copyrighting it? How about this...sit down folks...
"Fantabutron"
Yeah, I see a gleam in your eye. You like it!!
(Disclaimer: No marketing personnel were injured in the development of this post.)
I like the Serenity Line... now, all can be right on the outside too.

Unless your neighbors question your taste in music and listening levels.
This is a fun product..... conjures images of smoke and wonderful smells coming from the BBQ.... friends and family in colorful fun summer-wear and sunglasses, favorite beverage in hand, hips shaking .... and Axiom providing the summer soundtrack courtesy of the all new Sun Vibes !
Fun product deserves a fun name.
i try whit something like SPECIAL AMIE OUTDOOR (SAOM3) OR (SOA), hope you like it .
Axiom Climate Series..................C3s
So, do you want something a little more
Bold then, like the
Deco Series?
(there may be a pun in there, then again, there may not be
)

Shiny!

Since I'm not creative at all and stand no chance of winning, I went ahead a pre-ordered a pair in Almond Bisque!
But, just in case..... how about Axiom Air Series.
When I was in Industrial Sales calling on manufacturing plants around Iowa, the term OEM came up often, meaning Original Equipment Manufacturer.
I say we put a little twist on this acronym and call these new speakers:
OEM3 (not sure if Amie is planning on adding the v2 at the end)
Anyway, the OEM3 in this case would stand for "OUTDOOR ENVIRONMENTAL M3" series.
Witness Axiom's New Adept Series: Proficient inside, now proficient outside, wired or wireless.
And another: Axiom's Aurian Line.
One more:
To enjoy the Music outside, Axiom's Active Series.
WhatFurrer
Algonquin, or A3.
Why?
Algonquin Provincial Park is of Canada's most famous, and beautiful
outdoor spaces.
It's huge, much like I feel these speakers are going to be (huge in popularity, not size...). If they sound like the M3's, they'll sound huge too!
Signifies their origin. Axiom is in Dwight Ontario, minutes from Algonquin.
Algonquin is a nature preserve. Coincidentally, Axiom speakers sound very natural.
I want a pair for my cottage in Muskoka. I get the feeling that my neighbors will be buying them too.
Also a nice departure from Axiom's current naming scheme, and should you decide to use the first letter, A3 isn't taken yet.
Cheers!
(fingers crossed)

Muskoka series M3 if a series is coming or just the Muskoka if only the M3 is going to get the outdoor fun.
I'm amazed at how great these responses are - some real jewels in the list!
We only have plans for the M3 version of the outdoor speaker at this point, to answer that question. The next version will be the wireless version.
Hmmm...fun thread. After reading a bit more about the new product offerings, and following this thread, I see the development of a "series" AND "model" requirement for the new outdoor series!
I am sticking with my initial "SunVibes" name, and suggesting it could be the name for the outdoor series.
Sun Vibe Series, with two models:
1) SunVibe M3 - for the initial product
introduces the fun/cool new outdoor series brand (SunVibe) and maintains a link to the products heritiage (the original M3)
2) SunVibe Freedom for the wireless/solar version that I so lust after.
Freedom from the cares of life as one listens to your favorite tunes on a bright sunny day. Freedom from wires. Freedom from the power company!
There are lots of great ideas here. Some of my favorites I've seen posted so far:
"Elementals"
from pmbuko I like simply 'Element' Series. Combined with the 4 elements, these speakers could certainly be considered the 5th Element
"Open Air"
from whatfurrerAnother great one. I do like the idea of shortening it to either 'Open Series' or 'Aire Series' (spelled how lhulls was suggesting)
"Serenity"
from tmoyakI like it.
Now for some of my own. Once I started thinking, the ideas just started flowing...
Nirvana Series
Utopia Series
Expression Series
Release Series
Escape Series
Perfection Series
Freedom Series
Axiom
Without-Bounds or
"Boundless Axioms"Axiom Anywhere Series
Galaxy Series
Backyard Series
Sky Series
Celestial Series
Axiom SoundWaves
simple and elegant. Axiom Starlight Series
Celestial Series. Nice one Dave.
I've alwasy been a fan of geography so here goes:
Th Muskoka Series- MK3
(Muskoka-the land of red earth)
Alternates: Bay Series (B3)(as in Lake of Bays) or Cottage Series (C3)
These were my thoughts so far.
The Axiom OASIS Series
The Axiom DESERT BREEZE Series
The Axiom FIREFLY Series
My 2 cents: M3 vO (for outdoor)
The often suggested name O3 is the molecular formula for Ozone, so how about the Ozone series?
when does the contest end?

You can't go wrong.
Alas, I'm late to the game, and some really great ideas have already be offered up. My vote goes to Peter. Terrific idea, and since he lives on these boards, he got it in within 10 minutes of the contest being announced! Rock on Peter!
Geo M3's
Au Naturals (sp?)
The Great Outdoors Series
I still like: Axiom's new "Nature" series/version M3
(Shameless plug)
As long as I'm posting...........Axiom's new M3 "Outsider" version, (or M3 Outsider's series).
Or,........Axiom's new M3 "Weathernaut" series.
Axiom Storms. It just sounds tough
Another thought:
alfresco
meaning In the fresh air; outdoors
Element Series M3 (not elementals, Thats different
)
Distrubution Series M3
Open Air Series M3
Soundscape Series M3
Elementacoustic Series M3
Still lots of ideas coming - fantastic! We'll close entries Monday morning and pick one. Thanks everyone!
Axiom Outdoor Solutions Series
Weather Or Not
(See, I WON)
My first thought before I read any replies was something like..
"eleMent3" or "ELM3" (for element series) or "LM3" or "EM3" ..all around the idea of Element.
I thought I would have this thing won, then I saw a couple similar replies already (but not exactly the same, haha). I shoulda got in here sooner, but some of my name ideas were not mentioned yet. Woohoo for contests!
Well we already have the Architectural Line so how about the
Agricultural as you'll be outside working in the garden/yard

Some thoughts ...
Axiom Tornados
Axiom ThunderMakers
Axiom Cloudbursts
Axiom Downpours
Axiom Deluges
Axiom TorrentMakers
Axiom Hornets
Axiom Camouflage Series
Axiom Loudmouths
Ananth
2 more ideas: Terra Forte or just Forte, as in both strong against the elements and forte, as in loud. And, though I'm no Quebecois, I like the ring of the En Plein Air series as well.
Good luck to all! Lots of great ideas.
Greetings from another lurker.
Allright a contest
It seems there is no limit to how many ideas we are allowed and there are many great ones ahead of mine but here are a few more.
Aurora
Apex
Ecology Series
Extreme Series
Rhapsody
Aura
Vista 3
Maxim (which means Axiom)
These would all sound good with either "Series" or "3" added to them.
Thanks for the opportunity and good luck to all.
One more for good measure. This one is straight and to the point:
Axiom Externals
with optional tag-line: It's not just what's inside that counts.
Since I've got nuttin', I'll throw my vote for these:
Peter's Elemental, only shortened as Dave (dllewell) suggested to "Element".
Mark's Environmental Series.
Spish's Algonquin Series.
and of course,
Jakewash's Muskoka Series.
Axiom "Pastoral Series" In Door sound for the Outside.
My last entry..............."Outback Series" M3.
Re-cap:
M3 "Nature Series"
M3 "Outsider's
M3 "Weathernaut" Series (like Astronaut/cosmonaut)
Now, I just have to decide what colour I want my new speakers to be, so I'm ready.
Do I get partial credit if Element wins?
Well I just realized that through my own stupididty I suggested a name that was already given by jakewash (Muskoka). I still like the name though so add my vote for that.
In an effor to still offer something original I would suggest Extroverts, Gossamers, Constellations, or Niagara Series.
New ones from me (maybe someone else suggested):
Axiom Safari series
M3 Organic
Garden Party Series
Cats and Dogs series
to recap my earlier suggestions:
Axiom Outdoor Survivalists
Outdoor Survival Series
Axiom Survivor Series
Geo M3's
Au Naturals (sp?)
The Great Outdoors Series (GO M3's)
I can't think of anything else.
Okey-dokey. I'm closing the contest entries now and we'll get busy choosing - thank you again everyone!
I'd also like to throw my hat in for some already mentioned
1. Element Series - shortened to EMT Series
2. Algonquin Series - just sounds Canadian.
Quote:
Do I get partial credit if Element wins?
Me too!
Yowza! Close - very close - vote at Axiom! Thank you very much, everone who entered - a lot of fantastic names were suggested.
At the end of the day, you hit us right where it counts, Spish - Algonquin won. Congratulations! Pick your colour!
Congrats, Spish, even though you had the home court advantage, and all...
Enjoy those speakers!
What were the top 3, if i may ask?
Quote:

Its almost in the same area as insider trading...
Cool... that's got a nice ring to it!
Will the wireless edition be called AWEs?
Now how fun is that?
Really, isn't it nicer if everyone thinks their name is in the top three? Rather than me breaking some hearts?
Keep your thinking caps on - there will be another naming contest in the next couple of days! I am expecting some re-submissions - there were a lot of great entries.
Hmmm
perhaps the computer speaker system?
>>Its almost in the same area as insider trading...
... with black flies.
That reminds me... now that we have a nice outdoorsy name, are the self-powered versions going to include a bug-zapper ? A bright LED in the port, and a few KV on the screen; why just keep bugs out of the speaker when you can "send them to paradise" ?
It would probably reduce the number of port-fondling incidents as well, but I know we don't like to talk about that here.
congrats to the winner.
I'm wondering how to pronounce it ?
Quote:
congrats to the winner.
I'm wondering how to pronounce it ?
Some say Al-gone-quin.
Some say Al-gonk-quin.
Some say it doesn't matter - let's go have a beer.
WOAH!?!
Who woulda thunk? Thanks!!! I've never won a contest before!
So how do we handle the details?
-s
Nice job spish! I'm sure Amie will be sending you a PM. Or, you could send her one with your colour choice...
Well done!.......congrats.

i dunno about that. i mean, Ontario is a VERY big place. Algonquin Park is a 3 hour drive from where I live (mind you, it's only 30 minutes from my cottage), so I see where you're going with that.
thanks for the congrats! i'm looking forward to seeing and hearing them, and promise a full review (w/pictures!) once they're in their new home!
cheers all!

True Amie, it's just that I was certain "Elementals" (not my submission) was going to win it, I was just wondering if it was between those 2.
I look forward to the next contest.

Now that this thread is drawing to a close, I have to say that I like the new initiative to involve the community in new product introductions. Bravo.
yeah, i'm waiting for the contest where you can win an Epic 80 600 7.4 vassallo system
Indeed, Bravo to Axiom! That was a fun process, even for us non-creative spectators.
Sounds like the Doc's been checking out the samples again...
Axiom Outdoor Speakers - Makes your hot dogs plump when you cook em'
Axiom Outdoor Speakers - Air guitar while grilling is now a new sport.

Axiom Outdoor Speakers - Backyard baseball now has a fully orchestral soundtrack.
Axiom Outdoor Speakers - Don't play animal noises on these. Trust us.
Axiom Outdoor Speakers - Get your landscaping done, Beethoven might be showing up in your back yard.
Axiom Outdoor Speakers - The whole neighborhood now knows you listen to Celine Dion. Oops.
Unpolished slogans, but I like the direction some of them are going. Makes Axiom seem like a cool status icon.
It's 2:00 AM and I'm avoiding bed. Heh. What else is new.
LOL! Excellent! I like sleep-deprived-Dan.
Algonquin, huh? I can't help but think of the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
I used to pass the sign on the interstate at least once a month for two years on the way to visit my brother who used to live in the area.
I didn't even think of that. The first thing I thought of was that I used to live on the corner of Mohawk and Algonquin in Joliet.
Ran the Algonquin Hotel and Water Ski School in Bolton Landing, NY, on Lake George.
I guess just about everybody has a little "Algonquin" in their life.
I can't hear Algonquin without thinking of Dorothy Parker and the
Algonquin Round Table.
"
If you haven't got anything good to say about someone.............then come sit by me." - Dorothy Parker
When asked to use the word "horticulture" correctly in a sentence, Dorothy replied "
You can lead a whore to culture, but you can't make her think."
One of her more famous lines was in a review of a play starring Katherine Hepburn. Of Miss Hepburn's performance she said "
She runs the gamut of emotions from A to B."
"
If all the girls who attended the Yale prom were laid end to end, I wouldn't be a bit surprised." - Dorothy Parker.
Though I think many of the members of the Algonquin Round Table were very troubled, unhappy people (Parker, Benchley, etc.), and though I'm not sure I would have actually approved of their outrageously funny antics, their talent and wit was undeniable. At a party attended by many of the Round Table members, a young Helen Hayes (famous actress), unused to alcohol (she'd only had one drink) and feeling she just had to try to say something witty to fit in, blurted out something like "
Anyone who wants my piano is grateful to it." Their was a short, pregnant moment of silence, then playwright George S. Kaufman dryly replied "
That's very seldom of you, Helen." I would happily sacrifice many years of my life to have been a fly on the wall at the Algonquin Round Table.
I just finished reading, for about the 4th the time,
Harpo Speaks, Harpo Marks' autobiography (brilliantly ghost written by Rowland Barber). I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Easy to read, eminently entertaining, and a complete delight.
We have an Algonquin Park here in Newburgh, NY lol
We have an Algonquin Regional Park here, right along the Potomac River. I've kayaked and canoed there with the kids. Will be doing it again soon now that spring is here.
Algonquin, IL is a real city by me.
It's bigger than your park.
Oh yeah? Well, tomtuttle's
ugly yellow dog with no tail and short legs can whup all your dogs ...
Everybody just smile, nod and back away from JP slowly.
Oh, and Dan, I'm guessing Algonquin, IL is somewhat smaller than
7,725 square kilometres, but maybe there's a lot of sprawl.
Algonquin, IL seems to be between 5 and 16 square miles, depending on which web site you look at.
Chicago is around 230 square miles.
Algonguin Park in Ontario is about 3500 square miles. Ideal for testing subwoofers...
...but you still have the coolest dorm room.
Quote:

Dang it.
I'll take the coolest dorm room award though
But...Algonquin, IL has more people than the Algonquin park. What's the point in testing subwoofers if no one can hear them?
Good ol' Canada...eh?
"If a man is listening to speakers in Algonguin Park and there is no wife present, is he still listening too loudly?"
(smiling out loud)
If its my wife, then, unfortunately, yes.

Did I take this the wrong way?
Anyway, I'm happy for the winner, the name is suiting.
I'll order a set soon!
Well, Mark PMed me and told me how he shot the elephant after a poll, you guys are too funny. Then the elephant apparently came back to life, then was outsourced (Tom Tuttle is funny!).
So I guess the "Bang" was him shooting things again. What is it about men with guns.
Anyway, I like the elephant so much that I want to make him my avatar thingie. Hope you all like it, hah ha ha.
