Hi everyone,

Many thanks for all your imaginative and sometimes witty contributions to naming Axiom's new mini 5.1 sat/sub system. We liked lots of the suggestions--Tykes, Nanos, Quintette and others--but ultimately we chose "Axiom Epic Accents," submitted by Dr.House on Dec.17/'08 at 2:23 pm Eastern time. The "Accent" name had special appeal because it implied a blending with home decor, something not obtrusive, with a high WAF.

Congrats go out to devotee Dr.House, who will receive a pair of Axiom M3 v2 bookshelf speakers!

Regards,
Alan

That was fixed!
Congrats to Dr. House!
Now, when are they are coming out?
Posted By: Ya_basta Re: Contest Winner Announced! - 01/28/09 04:49 PM
Congrats Dr. House!! I was going to submit that name but I figured that all Axiom speakers are accents \:\)

Congratulations. Now when do we start naming Axiom staff's children?

Hey, congrats!

Hi Eric,

They're coming out fairly soon. We're building some for "beta-testing" with Axiom staffers and for photography this week. I'd say some time this quarter. . .

Regards,

Alan

Charles posted that we should be naming Axiom Children. With that in mind and not knowing what post Alan was referring to at first, I read this reply:

It is about freaking time...
Posted By: pmbuko Re: Contest Winner Announced! - 01/28/09 08:52 PM
May I suggest a tweak? The name needs more accents:

Axiom Epic Åççéñts

Oh, and congrats to Dr.House! Now that you've won, I can see that it really was a good suggestion. \:\)
Posted By: nickbuol Re: Contest Winner Announced! - 01/28/09 10:17 PM
Man, just like I said, by the time I saw the thread, there we a ton of names already, and most people had submitted quite a few... Heck, it was Dr. House's like 11th or 12th name that he threw out there that won.

I still think that there should be a limit to one name per registered user or something, and then if there are no good names by some date, open it up to round 2 for everyone.

Oh, Congrats Dr. House, by the way....
Posted By: pmbuko Re: Contest Winner Announced! - 01/28/09 10:35 PM
On the one hand, I agree with you. If everyone only got to enter once, they'd put a lot more thought into their one entry. On the other hand, creativity doesn't come on command. I'd hate it if I had already submitted something and then the perfect name idea came to me while I was on the toilet or in the shower the next day. ;\)
Posted By: SirQuack Re: Contest Winner Announced! - 01/28/09 11:45 PM
I agree Nick, I think 1-2 entries should be the limit. Next time I'll just copy/paste the entire Websters Dictionary.
Posted By: EFalardeau Re: Contest Winner Announced! - 01/29/09 12:13 AM
I do not agree. There should be no limit. This is brainstorming to help a company we like and support. The prize is just fun, but it should not be a deterrent to provent 20 entries if the 19th is to be the one helping Axiom's marketting of a product. This is about Axiom's success, not about members' goodies.
At least, that is how I feel about it! \:\)

Eric makes a good point.

Congrats Doc. Let us know how you like the M3s.

Congrats. Dr House, enjoy the M3's.
Posted By: St_PatGuy Re: Contest Winner Announced! - 01/29/09 01:41 AM
It's a good name, I like it! Congratulations, Dr House!! You'll like those M3s.
Posted By: SirQuack Re: Contest Winner Announced! - 01/29/09 01:59 AM
I respectively disagree.
Posted By: SirQuack Re: Contest Winner Announced! - 01/29/09 01:59 AM
not you sean
Posted By: myrison Re: Contest Winner Announced! - 01/29/09 03:21 AM
I agree Eric. Plus, it wouldn't really be in Axiom's interest to say "you can only submit one entry." Given their goal of finding the best name, the more entries the better. Of course, the downside is they have to deal with all of the nonsense names suggested (though I have a hard time imagining what they could possibly do to keep nonsense off these boards!) ;\)

Congrats Dr. House. Enjoy the M3s.

Enjoy your new M3's Dr. House. Congrats.
Posted By: SirQuack Re: Contest Winner Announced! - 01/29/09 01:02 PM
like I said, the next contest I'll just post the entire dictionary.
Posted By: pmbuko Re: Contest Winner Announced! - 01/29/09 02:50 PM
And that would be constructive because they have no dictionaries in Canada?

We are men of action. Pouting does not become us.
Posted By: nickbuol Re: Contest Winner Announced! - 01/29/09 02:52 PM
How about this then... Instead of limiting entries, give us a day to think about it so that we can focus on putting some thought into it and then we all know when to start posting. My biggest problem was that by the time I saw the thread (about 6 hours after it was started) there were dozens of posts, many with multiple "entries" and most of them by the same small handful of people. Even Ken (who objects my objection (AKA sour grapes on my part)) made a post in response to Dr. Houses many entries.... Something like "Geez Doc" so don't let his good nature sounding post in THIS thread let you believe for one second that he too isn't disappointed that he lost because others used a huge number of words taken from their thesaurus.

DISCLAIMERS:
1) Again, the above is just me whining and crying because of "sour grapes"...
2) I don't really know what Ken thinks... Do any of us really know?
3) Congrats to Doc again.

Do you need any Beta Testers? I volunteer myself.

I'll not rib you about the sour grapes given your current employment situation. I could see how that would magnify things.
Posted By: BlueJays1 Re: Contest Winner Announced! - 01/29/09 05:36 PM
Wow! Purolator just delivered the M3's. Oh my gosh that was fast! Unbelievable! Less than 24 hours :).

I have not taken them out of the boxes yet but I plan on using the M3's for a computer setup. I have no speakers for my PC and it has been soundless for a long time.

I have a spare reciever that is not getting used so I am thinking of hooking the receiver up to my computer through a 3.5mm to 2xRCA cable and setting the M3's to large, running them full range without a subwoofer :). I think that should work but I will have to look into any settings that I might have to change.

I also have the option of wall mounting the M3's with the full metal bracket and using them as surround back speakers. I am very happy with my QS4's as surrounds at the moment but if I move everything to a larger room I will probably go with this option and move to 7.1

I think this might be the record for the fastest delivery \:\)

Thank you Axiom \:\)

Posted By: jakewash Re: Contest Winner Announced! - 01/29/09 05:53 PM
Personally I like the PC speaker idea, but I would also experiment with the 7.1 since you have extra speakers to play with.

BTW congratulations on the win!

Any possibility of disclosing the top 25 contenders?
Posted By: BlueJays1 Re: Contest Winner Announced! - 01/29/09 06:55 PM
Thanks everyone for all the kind words.

Here is their arrival!

Posted By: Adrian Re: Contest Winner Announced! - 01/30/09 04:53 AM
They look bigger than I expected, unless the boxes are doubled. I'm assuming the floor tiles are 12"?
Posted By: BlueJays1 Re: Contest Winner Announced! - 01/30/09 02:22 PM
They come single boxed. The foam bracing inside offers great protection and stability and the speakers are also wrapped to keep any moisture out. My boxes were in perfect condition when they arrived.

I have the M3's installed and have been listening to them for a bit. They are being used as computer speakers. I have been listening to them at low volumes in a near-field application (full range) with a slight toe-in and they sound fantastic! They really have me "engulfed" in the sound when sitting at the computer. I refer to my computer chair now as the "sweet spot" They are nicely detailed, very clear, and the bass is impressive. I do not even need a sub. I am very pleased and will probably continue to use them in this application. I can't wait to listen to them more \:\) .

So what's the new product being named again? I remember something about a mini surround system? If so, I'm thinking it might be the only HT system I ever consider buying \:\)

I really think this sat/sub system is useless unless they buy it without ever coming to this forum. You guys would just talk them into M80's anyway!
Posted By: Murph Re: Contest Winner Announced! - 02/11/09 01:31 PM
Each Sat/sub system comes with glossy M80s adds, a coupon, and a number to call for a free set of knives and an pediomatastic bed with every M80s order.
Posted By: Adrian Re: Contest Winner Announced! - 02/11/09 02:25 PM
"pediomatastic"?? I think I used that stuff to fix a leak in my eavestrough last year.
