Purchased the air tickets today for the Dwight trip, it was an early b-day present for me since it is in June. Will be flying out of SFO on June 6th at 7am, arriving in Toronto at 3pm. Pick up the rental car and make the trek north to Dwight, arrivng before dark with any luck. Rush hour traffic out of Toronto is worse than the bay area in my opinion, so that could be a delay for sure.
Will be returning to the bay area evening of the 14th, unless the Axiom team kicks me out sooner. The temps will be warmer than last visit so the camera batteries should surrive this time, so I Ppan on having lots of pics and will post them along with anything of interest I find.

Cool Dennis. I'll be eager to hear about your viist, and see what you cans show us. Too fun!

When you depart the aircraft and they ask you if the trip is business or pleasure, be sure not to answer "Business".

You won't be allowed into the provence.

I'd really like to take the trip along with you, but the drive from Florida to Calif. to catch the plane is out of the question.

Looking foreward to seeing lots of new pics!

Last trip was no problem dealing with customs, this time I will be taking a couple bottles of wine across the border will see if they pick on me.

Posted By: F107plus5 Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 05/05/06 12:10 AM
Last time I got to Canada was before 9/11, glad to hear the border is still open!!

In the old days, if they discovered the wine, a simple popping of the cork and passing of glasses would do wonders!!

Ah, yes, but then again, you had to fly with goggles in an open cockpit back then.

Have fun Dennis, for all of us stuck at home

You're going for EIGHT days?
That is quite a long factor tour.

If you need housing, they have this quaint upstairs room with long rolls of soft speaker grille cloth that you could just tuck yourself right into...

If all goes according to plan, we might take a second trip out that way again next February or March prior to another round at the spa resort.
Posted By: Tharkun Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 05/05/06 04:04 PM
More like 7 days since it is about a 12 to 14 hour travel time for me each way and that kills two days. But yes it longer than what I would call a tour.
Posted By: Ray3 Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 05/05/06 09:42 PM
Dennis - sounds very exciting. Enjoy!!!

Lotsa pics please.
Posted By: WhatFurrer Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 05/08/06 02:50 PM
And make sure there are pics of you with Amie, and Ian, and maybe some of those new fangled electronics they have been toying with...

Better idea: Live streaming video of the tour...Yeah, that's the ticket.

Have a one gig chip in the camera so may take some short mpeg clips. Only 28 days and a wake up till the trek.
Posted By: Ajax Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 05/08/06 03:09 PM
....but who's counting?
Posted By: HomeDad Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 05/08/06 03:27 PM
If they have any new toys, my Birthday is in June, hint, hint
Posted By: pmbuko Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 05/08/06 03:46 PM
bring a spare chip. Those vids really chew into the photo space, and it would be a shame to have to do some last minute deletes to make room for those priceless "sunning on the deck with Amie" shots.

Taking the docking station and will just burn to a disc if needed.
Posted By: Amie Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 05/08/06 04:51 PM
I don't know if Tharkun will see any newfangled toys - Randy's so sloowww with returning the prototypes. Are we ever getting the Blu-Ray / HD-DVD combo player back?!
Posted By: Ajax Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 05/08/06 05:09 PM
OH OH! Now you've gone and done it. Here come the questions. I'll ask the first one. Will it also play SACDs and DVD-As?

TEASE!
Posted By: bugbitten Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 05/08/06 05:25 PM
Just like Ian posting about "the big honk'in" center a while back!
Posted By: Tharkun Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 05/08/06 05:29 PM
That was Ian's attempt at humor and a few seem to take him serious.
Posted By: bugbitten Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 05/08/06 05:44 PM
I would like to take THAT comment seriously.

But the EP400 is another mystery !
Posted By: Tharkun Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 05/26/06 05:20 PM
Just a reminder for all Axiom beta testers to please return all uints to Axiom soon. I will be taking off for Axiom in 11 days and won't be able to get pictures of new products if you keep them at home.

Oh, man!

I'm not givin' up this 250-watt X 7 channel digital amp any sooner than necessary!
Posted By: SirQuack Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 05/26/06 06:56 PM
I'm salavating, just thinking about these new amps.
Posted By: Tharkun Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 05/26/06 09:15 PM
Well you may need to change over to the M80s to handle the 400 + watt channels.

All packed and ready for the trek north, will be taking off in the morning at 4:30 am for the airport, hope to arrive at Dwight in time for dinner. Will log in and say hi from Axiom later this week.

Don't forget your flannel shirts, eh.
Posted By: robottawa Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 06/06/06 12:25 AM
Don't worry about bringin' the flannel eh! They give out shirts at airport customs.

Had an updated weather report from Ian, says it will be cold, but has to warmer than the visit back in Decemeber.
Posted By: bridgman Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 06/07/06 12:02 AM
8PM. Dennis is either just pulling into Dwight or on his way to Winnipeg, depending on how good his navigating skills are after getting up at 4 AM
Posted By: F107plus5 Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 06/07/06 12:51 AM
My Wifes' Mom and Aunt had a similar situation while gabbing, on a trip from eastern Michigan to eastern Ohio.

The "Chicago; 40 Miles" sign, caught their collective attentions.

....frivolous post while waiting for update from Dennis.

Dennis made it in great time - and he's still busy reading all the confidentiality agreements we had waiting for him.
Posted By: F107plus5 Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 06/07/06 01:25 PM
Yea!! He made it!!

Booo, Bummer. He's signing.

Ahh, THAT's why Dennis wanted me to come up.

About 50% of my job these days is slogging through high tech legal agreements and summarizing them down to "sign it", "get this changed", or "punch them in the nose and tell them to try again"
Posted By: MarkSJohnson Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 06/07/06 07:20 PM
Jeeez.

I hope Dennis doesn't have to punch Amie in the nose.
Posted By: Ajax Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 06/07/06 08:30 PM
I hope Amie puches him right back!
Posted By: SirQuack Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 06/07/06 09:28 PM
Or kick him where the sun don't shine. lol
Posted By: Zarak Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 06/07/06 11:16 PM
I don't wish that on anyone!
Posted By: richeydog Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 06/16/06 09:51 PM
Hey Dennis, I see you on the who's online page...Is that you or have your cats taken over the asylum?
Posted By: dllewel Re: Axioma Factory Visit 2006 (June) - 06/16/06 09:53 PM
Hopefully it's Dennis. I'm eager to hear (and see) the details from his visit. If it is the cats, I hope they know how to upload photos.
