Hey all,

Well, my wife was downstairs last night and noticed that the room is smaller than she remembered and noted that a riser would seem cramped and probably not look all that great...

I think I agree with her, thus I found the riser substitute!

I can pick up this bad boy at Linens and things for $69CAD each. I would probably buy 4 of them, this way I can fit 8 people into the theatre with 4 on the ground (top of the seat is 34") and 4 people on chairs with a clear view of the screen.

Have any of you done this? Just wondering what you all think.

Of course, they way it always seems to go with me, I already drilled the holes for the wireing for the side surrounds, which will now have to be moved back 2 feet...SHEESH.

Otherwise, would having the side surrounds 2 feet in front of the main listening position at a 15 degree angle be a really bad thing?

I bought a couple chairs just like those for the kid's TV area. They love them. They're way too small for me, but those in the picture look quite a bit larger. Heck, I'm glad you posted that and think I'll get a couple for my HT room.

Personally, if it were my room, I would probably move the side surrounds back a couple of feet. It would bother me to NOT have them at least at the listening position, or further back. I wouldn't be able to concentrate on the movie knowing my surrounds are in front of me. (i know i'm weird!) Soundwise I haven't a clue if one way is better than the other.

I have something similar to that at my house, but its made out of plasitc with armrests molded in with the rest of the chair. There's a padded piece that velcro's onto the back and seat position, but I still find that it's too hard to sit in for long periods of time. The pic you posted looks like it would be very comfortable to sit in, but personally I prefer to have armrests in whatever chair I'm sitting in. I'm not suggesting you go out and buy my crappy plastic ones, just that you might want to look around for a model that has armrests if you usually use them.

Jason, I too like armrests, I searched all over the internet and couldn't find ones that were any good with arm rests.

I am pretty determined to find some with arm rests that can fold up.
