So I've been running my old H/K AVR25 in my office from say 1994 to power my M3s. I have my computer hooked up to it and also have the benefit of listening to the radio (remember that?) whilst working.

Yesterday after getting home from work I went into my office and immediately noticed 2 things: A noxious burning odor and a weird pulsing sound. After gagging and opening a window, I investigated and found my wife's cat stretched out on the AVR25 taking a nap. Seems she had eaten something that didn't agree with her. Sometime during her nap she apparently woke up, puked on the receiver, then fell back asleep. Yech.

Well, needless to say the receiver is ruined. Her lovely vomit dripped through the vents in the top of the receiver and wreaked havoc on the electronics inside. I can only hope there is no damage to the speakers or the subwoofer.

BTW, the cat is fine. Dammit. And I can't even begin to describe the smell of burning electronics mixed with cat puke. It will haunt me the rest of my days.

Now that is quite a story! Sorry to hear of your loss. I guess the cat liked the warm receiver- the heat build-up alone would have been bad for the H/K, but sadly no receiver would survive cat barf.

May she rest in peace.

I had two cats for 18 years. I loved them dearly.

They died.

I dont miss them one bit.

Good story, Mark. Sorry about the HK. I find it very satisfying to re-employ old gear like that. Maybe an excuse to buy one of those Emotiva 2 channel amps.

I cohabitated with a bulemic tonkinese for several years. I'm with Bray on the cat issue. My daughter is allergic, so there's no feline peril in my future.
