One of the drives in one my new duplicators went bad; the company is going to swap it out when I send them the dead one.

I feel so dumb...I used to work on my old computers all the time...but the power harness won't pull out and for the life of me, I don't remember if there's a "catch" on it that I'm not seeing. I don't want to force it, but want to get this shipped this morning and the supplier won't even be opening for a few hours (EST v. PST)...

Is there a release or should I just yank it.... (Shut up, Peter!).

There's no lock or release to worry about. You might have to giggle it (no pun intenede Peter... ) from side to side to help it come loose since it's usually a tight connection.

Double check the bottom that is not shown in the pic for a squeeze release but the standard is that they don't have anything.

I've had to take needlenose pliers and use a small block braced against something to provide leverage. They can be extremely stubborn but should pull straight out.

A thimble of C4 is always a tasteful way to finesse computer equipment.

Oh....explosives....is there anything you can't solve.....?

Thanks Guys! Gave it a good yank!

Amazing tech support around here!

Molex connectors and me... well we just don't get along. I've had titanic battles in tight places with those bastards. Stubborn, inflexible, incredibly difficult to remove once installed. Not surprising it was designed by Germans.

Glad to see it's not just me, then!

As opposed to a bad yank? Oh, "yank" not "wank"...

Sorry. Never mind.

If it jams, force it. If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway.

Jeep Philosophy
There is no such thing as breakage, just opportunities to upgrade.

Peter Marshall: What are "Do It", "I Can Help", and "Can't Get Enough"?

George Gobel: I don't know, but it's coming from the next apartment.

Peter Marshall: Back in the old days, when Great Grandpa put horseradish on his head, what was he trying to do?

George Gobel: Get it in his mouth.

Now that the problem is fixed, I have to ask. Are you physically unable to take a bad photo, or is there a pile of (digital) rejects for each image we see? That may be the most beautiful romex plug I've ever seen.

thats what i was thinking
i saw one post that I think was his, where the piece of a biscuit looked like a walrus ? Very professional looking setup. and i could see the walrus or whatever marine animal i think it was supposed to be

i've had such a hard time with those connectors that I have
1. cracked the connector on the hard drive.
2. slipped my hand and cut it on the sharp edges of the cheap case.

Well, there isn't a pile for this image..it was just a quickie (shut up, Peter!) while hand-holding a flourescent worklight. But rest assured, I get a lot of bad ones, too!
