Just curious to gather thoughts. I have been considering a career change

We had a thread about flying a while back. A lot of people on here fly, if I recall.

Some even use planes.

(I know, too easy!)

I would love to get my licence but I would need more money and time... and my wife is too worried about it still.

Money and time are the biggest limitations for most people. It is not cheap, and the time requirements for in-the-air fly time is more than most people can handle (myself included)...

I always thought that it would be fun to have an ultralight or something, for cost and licensing, but still I don't have time. Maybe when the kids are grown up.....

I'm a flying school dropout if that helps. Fear of heights.

I was OK with spins but stalls were more than I could handle.

No need to worry John, I am terrified of heights...as is a high percentage of professional pilots that I know. I don't believe my fear started until after I learned to fly because I walked way too many a bridge beam in my younger days and did some serious rappelling while in the service and the heights never bothered me in the least.

That's wild about the stalls and spins, one would typically believe the spins is what would scare the bejeesus out of somebody.

Ravi, I've been at it for over 25 years with a little over 10k hours in the air...if there's anything I can help you with shoot me a PM, I'll be glad to help!

Also, you know Ian is an avid pilot as well.

Oh come on guys, when you are in a boat do you say you are swimming? I don't think so! So how is ridding in a plane flying? You have to get out of the plane to fly! The plane is just a ride to altitude! Try skydiving, it's cheaper and unlike piloting a plane, you really are flying! (You will not have a great glide ratio however;-)

To Fly - verb - To engage in flight, especially:
To move through the air by means of wings or winglike parts.
To travel by air: We flew to Dallas.
To operate an aircraft or spacecraft.
To rise in or be carried through the air by the wind:

Fall - verb -
to drop or descend under the force of gravity, as to a lower place through loss or lack of support.

Which one sounds more like skydiving?

That's why it's called skydiving.
