OK, so I admit that I'm a little O/C, and when I'm trying to figure something out or remember something, it'll eat away at me till I get it. So the other day, for no known reason, a scene from a movie popped into my head and for the life of me, I can't place the movie.
In the scene, demons kind of "form" from the shadows and drag a man to hell. I seem to remember others in the scene, who did nothing to stop it from happening as, (I think) the person who was being taken had murdered somebody or something and it was deemed somewhat righteous. I believe that the "demons" never really took full form and made some sort of shrieking sound.
My wife says it sounds vaguely familiar and my employee can picture it perfectly, but no one can attribute it to a movie.
Oh, sage Axiomites, you can earn a cookie (well, a picture of one, anyway) by helping out a brother…..
was it an older or newer film? Meaning, were the special effects cheasy or non-cheasy?
"Ghost" comes to mind for me, a very old movie, a guy dies and these shadow dog things drag him away...
I think we better get JP on this right away. That may or may not have been "in a movie".
Robb-
It WAS an older movie, and it just might have been Ghost. I don't remember it as a Horror movie, nor Science Fiction. Ghost could kind of fit that non-genre genre!
Can anyone confirm? Does Robb earn a cookie?
Does Tom earn a Bud Lite?
Alright, Robb..... set your computer to accept Cookies (HA! I crack myself up!)
I will confirm that you are thinking about
Ghost.
If memory serves (with a little help from IMDB), Willie Lopez killed Sam (Swayze), and when Sam discovers how to interract with the 'living world', he goes after Willie and ends up scaring him so much that Willie runs into traffic and gets hit by a bus (or something). Then the shadows change to demons and drag Willie's spirit to Hell. The same thing happens later with Carl, the chief protagonist. A very memorable and somewhat disturbing scene.
Mark,
I thank you for your gesture of cookie goodness, however, I will accept a pair of M60's instead...
I know it is not "RoadHouse", so must be Ghost.
with Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze.
Whoopi! I think that's it!
"I'm 'Enery the Eighth, I am.
'Enery the Eighth I am, I am.
I got married to the widder next door;
She'd been married seven times before.
Every one was an 'Enery;
She wouldn't 'ave a Willy or a Sam.
I'm 'er eighth old man called 'Enery.
'Enery the Eighth I am. "

The movie could also have been Constantine
"John Constantine is the exorcist who has been to Hell and back, and whose soul is sentenced to hell. He has been deporting demons to get on good terms with God, yet God wants self-sacrifice. After the mysterious suicide of her twin sister, detective Angela Dodson goes out in search of the truth. Together, Constantine and Angela battle the demons on Earth. "
I am amazed at how bad that movie sounds.
Sorry, I should have posted an update even though the cookie was already awarded. I picked up Ghost two nights ago, as I had a coupon for BB and my wife had never seen it.
It definitely WAS Ghost, and the effects WERE kinda cheesy!
Anyone listen to the Goldberg Variations, lately?
Taking into account how bad it sounds, consider this: Keanu Reeves is the star.
That can't be all bad....I seem to remember a movie called "The Matrix" that was pretty darn good.
because of the special effects, the story, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving, and Joe Pantoliano. Keanu was just along for the ride.
OK, I've thought it over. It could NOT have been Constantine. Whoopi isn't in Constantine.
Or is that Whoopifu?
Have some more of whatever you're drinking.
