There was a grill thread a little while back, so I thought I'd ask as well. We are going to be looking for a grill for the new house. We're thinking around $700 for a price range. Any suggestions for a good grill at this price? We don't need side burners on it. I'd like to get a gas line off the new house to hook it up to, but I don't know if they'll do that for us when they build it.

Kinda depends on what features you are looking for, surface area, stainless, etc. I would suggest looking into the Weber Genesis series. They are supposed to have great customer service and support and their products have a reputation for quality.

I don't think you can go wrong with Weber.

The only new feature I wish I had is the infrared grid for high-heat searing.

Weber, Weber, Weber. I'm really, really happy with my $400 one, so you may get out cheaper than you thought.

Weber or Napoleon. Just be sure to get the stainless cooking grates.

The Genesis S-310 is just over 700, so that could be an option.

I'm not familiar with Napoleon. I'll have to look into them.

I have a Char Broil now that I got about 11 years ago, so it's time to retire that one after this season.

Would I be incorrect in assuming I can find some good sales on grills after labor day, as places try to get rid of their inventory for the season? I wouldn't mind buying it now and having to move it later if the price is right.

I don't think Webers go on sale, much to my dismay. Do you really want to pay a $100 premium for a stainless top and doors? The rest of the grill is the same as the E models.

I just purchased a Vermont Castings 4 burner and it works great. sides of the lid are cast iron as well as the grating, really keeps the heat and sears very well. Consumer Reports rated the 3 burner version as best buy if that helps.

Yes, front to back, side to side, corner to corner, Vermont has the most even temperature distribution and retention. Excellent cooking results.

Drawback: Porcelain coated steel "pot". The bottom of that thing will be rotted out within 8 to 10 years. Also, the plant in Mississauga Ontario is all but closed. All Vermont production for next year will be out of China. It hasn't been confirmed, but we are anticipating an all new "cheaper" design.

Today, for some reason, I was thinking I want a Mongolian-style grill in my house. I haven't even had any Mongolian barbecue in 8 or 9 years.

Charles, if you are ever in Southwestern Ontario, check out The Mongolian Grill. There are two locations.

Thanks. By the way, nice avatar. I finally watched Borat last night. That Sacha Baron Cohen really commits to his characters, I'll say that. I admire his dedication, but man, talk about some stuff that is hard to watch. Ha ha. Especially that climax.

Sorry, extreme departure from the thread's original subject. So... speaking of grills, how about that Paul Wall?

My girlfriend bought me this one a year ago. http://www.charbroil.com/consumerwebhome/463268207.aspx

If the link don’t work, it’s a Charbroil Commercial grill.

I love the cast iron grills and five burners. Even heat throughout the whole thing, always lights and doesn’t rust. I want to get the rotisserie for it, but keep forgetting to pick one up…

I’m a little disappointed with the base. It has stainless doors, but the stand is carbon steel.

No idea what it cost, it was a gift and I was given strict orders to not find out what it cost.

Dang Mike, I really need to find me a girlfriend like that.
