I did this test which my sister gave me the link to. Go here:

http://www.careercruising.com/

Put in "nycareers" as the username and "landmark" as the password.

I wouldn't even be posting about this, but the result was chillingly accurate. The #1 result was "shipping and receiving clerk," followed by my actual job, "stock clerk." I guess I'm doing what I love.

Writer was way down at #30, so maybe I'll have to accept it won't happen for me, or I could take it as a sign that I'll become a writer next year when I'm 30. Sounds reasonable!

I don't know how, but fashion designer was #13.

#1 was Industrial Designer - ie: he who sketches out a product before it goes to engineering to really screw it up trying to make it feasable.
#2 was Animator - part of my current job
#3 was Desktop Publisher - which is pretty much the definition of my job... in 1994... for students who went to work for McDonalds instead.
#4 was Interior Designer - which I do have a flair for, I'm not nearly flamboyant enough to pull it off though.
#5 was Air Traffic Controller - well, no... hell no... not with my personality.

My number 1 was Avionics Tech. OK that could be cool.
but
my number 4 was Cable Installer or Repairer.

Cable TV is my Enemy! LOL!!!

Mines were

1. Artist (whatever what that really mean)
2. Writer (actually what I do and like doing, just not getting paid for it!)
3. Microbiologist (a genuine interest of mine)
4. Special Effects Technician (so I can get stock options in Lucasfilm!)
5. Computer Engineer (what I currently do for a living)

So I guess I should quit complaining!

I got some very odd hits... None really related to what I do, but here are some of the more interesting ones:

#3 - Special Effects Technician (cool)
#7 - Explosives Specialist (cool, especially with #3)
#14 - Librarian (What? I don't even go to the library.)
#18 - Cartoonist / Comic Illustrator
#23 - Animator
#25 - Astronaut (My childhood dream.)
#31 - Disc Jockey (Night clubs, here I come...)
#32 - Video Game Developer
#35 - Comedian (laugh)
#39 - Dancer ( What???)

Hey, that was fun!!

Mine were:
1. Architect

2. Industrial Engineer

3. Technical Writer

4. Mechanical Engineer

5. Operations Research Analyst

All over the map - just like my job at Axiom!!

That was fun and painless. I'm a little too predictable:

1. Psychiatrist
2. Naturopath
3. Public Health Nurse
4. Mental Health Nurse

27 of the top 40 were in the medical or psychological field.

This is much different than the test I took in college that told me that I should be a film director or a computer programmer.

That was interesting….. Not too sure about 1 or 36. I do intend to build, own and manage a hotel with bar and resturaunt.

1 Health Care Administrator (where'd that come from)
2 Association Manager (what the heck is that)
3 Hotel Manager
4 HVAC Tech (did this and hate it)
5 Property Manager
7 Management Consultant (hmmmm...big money here)
10 Heavy Machinery Operator (love running machinery)
15 Machinist (I am a milright)
24 Crane Operator (Did that, fun)
36 Tailor / Dress Maker (WTF!!)

You could combine the two, gain some weight, grow a beard, move to Flint, MI and get the government all up in arms about your new expose documentary on persons with lowered mental states named "Thicko."

Well, I got Lasik like Peter Jackson did, and PJ's weight is coming down, so maybe I'll do King Kong 2: Electric Bugaloo.

I never saw any similarities between the two jobs until just now, with the whole Pixar/computer animation thing. I'll call Steve Jobs and tell him to step aside. Or maybe Brad Bird.

Blech. I guess I didn't give it much to work with, but apparently I'm a lab tech or disc jockey. Or an explosives specialist (???).

I'm not even going to try it, if my wife see's it she may want me to start working again.

D'oh! the account doesn't work any more.

Maybe 'tis good ye let the test sail by wit'out answerin' it. I doubt it had a career suggestion of "HomeDad", arrrgh.

"RAWK! Your number one suggestion is househusband, RAWK."

'scuse me parrot, mate, she's quite the talker ...

You broke it!

Perhaps it is not broke but rather the last 3 users really just have an "error 401 Not Found" for a career.

Ha ha, don't worry. It wasn't hers. I'm not sure where she found it, but she posted it as a bulletin on MySpace, so I imagine she got it from a similar source.

Lab tech, explosives specialist, and you bear a striking resemblance to that guy from Mythbusters . . . the clues are mounting up!

Yeah, I wish. That would be a lot more interesting than this firewall class I'm taking right now...

You could get (or refresh) your scuba cert and help keep Adam from drowning in submerged cars.
