Once again, stupidity wins the day. Idiot should be forced to pay. He is just SUPER lucky that they reduced it by that much.
"Geez officer, I didn't know that the sign said STOP. I thought it was short for Some Thing Ona Pole."
Yeah, no provincial sales tax, lots of oil revenue and if you can work on an oil rig we will welcome all the idiots to Alberta.
Natural selection will weed them out. My guess if you are stupid enough to rack up a cell phone bill like that its not long before you get injured on the job in the oil patch.
Pay up sucka!
Why would you live with super slow cell phone speeds when you could get...uh...a DSL/Cable/Satellite connection?
Because Grande Prairie is about 3 hours north of Edmonton, and this time of year, skin freezes in about 3 seconds there. I am pretty sure DSL/Cable doesn't exist. Ofcoarse that doesn't explain Satellite.
Yea...I was going to mention he probably would do it because Cable/DSL doesn't exist...but satellite is available anywhere for $60 a month on avg.
I remember back in 1995, I applied to AOL and spent about 4 hours on it one night surfing with my 14.4 modem. It was a free AOL trial, what I didn't realize was the long distance phone number (I live in Canada) to the US cost me about $240 bucks for that session. Needless to say the wife of only 6 months was not impressed. Never made that mistake again.

Ok, as someone who has actually spent time on the rigs, the guy should have had to pay the full price. I spent 4 months out in nowhere land outside of Drumheller and its not that difficult to get by with out any outside communication or entertainment.
Once again the stupidity of some people can truly amaze.
Natural selection will weed them out.
Unfortunately modern medicine has ways of keeping them alive. Darwin's theory has taken a back seat.
The bugs will rule us all one day.
And they are starting with Tex's basement
Actually, I read of some research lately that indicates that natural selection is going quite nicely in the human population, mainly due to the size of the population. It would seem to indicate that evolution is moving pretty fast (relatively speaking) in humans.
