Hi Guys,

My daughter thinks it would be fun to be able to subject the rest of us to her iPod playlists in the car.

I see that you can get either the wireless FM transmitters or the ones that also include the charger. Unless this feature is improved by the wired link, or consumes massive battery life, I'm inclined to go with the wireless version.

Do you have suggestions for form factor? Brand? Model?

I know that reviews on these things vary pretty widely.

It's a 2G Nano, if that matters.

Thanks much.

We have a very old iTrip from Griffin (not sure of the spelling). It seems to do the job ok. I have heard good things about their latest version, so that might be worth looking into.

I typically use an auxiliary input into my car radio, so I've moved away from that. Of course, the new(ish) car's aux input isn't working, soooo....

I've had varying success w/ the transmitters, maybe newer versions are better.

But the problem starts when you're in an area that has a lot of FM stations, like Los Angeles or SF Bay Area. Then you have my problem where there are few open frequencies. I gave up and went w/ a cassette adapter and finally an AUX input.

Me too. Also the transmission is so compressed I found it unlistenable, much worse than FM sound.

I've had mixed success with the cassette adapters over the years, and my wife's Corolla doesn't have a tape deck. I'm not sure that "quality" is a big issue in this case. Griffin and Belkin were two brands I was going to look into. Thanks.

One of those cd/cassette tape adapters works really well. I use one in my old ford explorer. Not an option for you I know. \:\(

How about this, Tom?

BTW, I use one of these head units on my Toyota FJ Cruiser.

It connects to the satellite radio input on the back of the head unit. Then I can use my steering wheel controls to move through playlists. It supports text so I can see the songs on the stock radio. I got it for about $100 and install was relatively easy on my truck, maybe 20 minutes. Much better solution, I keep the cables in the glove box out of sight. It also powers the iPod so it never discharges.
