I did a search for the chili thread. Free Spirit Chili. No luck.
I was thinking of making a batch of it this weekend and wanted to ask a question about adding some ingredients like peppers, onions, mushrooms, celery etc, but cant find it. Can anybody direct me to where it is?
thanks,
Hmm. It just surfaced a few weeks ago. Try digging back 2 or 3 pages in the Water Cooler.
What Ken said. Or use Peter's handy forum search thing.
I think that the international red chili cookoff rules prohibit anything except meat, liquid and spices as ingredients. That is why the recipe is what it is. There's nothing to prevent you from adding whatever you think would be good. I've made that recipe a number of times, but I just like its meaty goodness. I add other stuff at the table sometimes.
Page 3 of the WC ... next to the last thread on that page, as of right now.
Speaking of Page, I was just reading where Jimmy Page is wanting the band to do a world tour ... how cool would that be!

correct, although there is the "anything goes" category. My chili partner and I recently made a GREAT batch o chili using ground elk....I think that will now be our defacto recipe.

As opposed to the kind of elk that flies??
Flying elk can be a hazard where adequate cover is not available.
Thanks fellas, I did a couple searches using the search feature on the forum and nothing came up.
BTW, Elk do fly.....over your vehicle if hit with the front bumper at high speeds.
I almost found that out in Banff this weekend.
elk is the tits man, had some tenderloin the other night.

Banff's so weird that way - you can hit an elk at a stoplight! Hopefully you weren't braking wildly on the trans Canada?
Whenever somebody says "Banff", I feel like I should say "gesundheit"

I think in order to make an elk fly, you'd need to be driving a Semi.

One of my favorite images was from a walk through Banff -- an old lady chasing a herd of elk out of her garden with a broom.
