I hate to fan the flames against them, I actually use Monster flatwire because it was only about $1/foot at Fry's. But that's the only wire I use from them.
I saw this and I can't even fathom how the cables look similar. IMHO, they don't. I post this because I wholeheartedly support BlueJeans. I'm a happy customer, I've referred them and also bought cables for friends. Great value, I'm even tempted to look at their Tartan line for future use.

Here's Blue Jeans Cable's official response.
Kurt is my new hero.
Thanks for the thread. LOVE the response. I'm cheering for the little guy.
This is one cable flame war I'm actually interested in following.
That's some well-written answer alright! Just sent the link to the the business people at work!
That's just beautiful. Man, I can't wait to see how this one plays out. I really hope Monster takes it to trial.
Let me begin by stating, without equivocation, that I have no interest whatsoever in infringing upon any intellectual property belonging to Monster Cable. Indeed, the less my customers think my products resemble Monster's, in form or in function, the better.
He had me with the first sentence, brilliant!
It's the second sentence that got me.
Holy mother of all that is right in the world, what a beautiful response. Wow. O, to be a fly on the wall of Monster Cable now.
I despise bullies be they people or corporatios, I hope Monster gets what they deserve.
Maybe we can get Kurt to go after Pear.
That was simply amazing. This will up his business, for sure. Good one, Monster.
I don't even need any cables and I want to buy stuff from Blue Jeans.

I feel good because I
did buy some cables from him a couple weeks ago.
Hey, for fun, and to get my troll-like urges out on somebody else's forum instead of our own *coughShoutBoxcough*, I joined monstercommunity.com, as medic8r, and posted the lead-up and Kurt's letter.
Link me, link me, say that you link me...
Only 1 view so far - and that was me!!
Hmm, no responses yet.
I do, however, have a particular song stuck in my head now. . .
Dang, those songs are always aimed at Ken. Maybe it'll hit him too.
Looks like the Monster Community is a ghost-town compared to our vibrant place. Things turn over very slowly there. I'll have to learn patience.
Maybe the Monster Community is only populated by Monster employees. What exactly do they talk about there?
Here's Blue Jeans Cable's official response.
Kurt is my new hero.
And mine. Read every word of it. Awesome.
Rich
Link me, link me, say that you link me...
awh great, now I have that silly melody stuck in my head.
A whole lot of people now know about this now, as it made the front page of SlashDot today. That's a big geek audience.
I'm proud to say I'm a BJC customer.
Yes, my pride of ownership points went way up, too!

Another innocent victim caught in the crossfire!
Meanwhile, Ken's brain am escaping my infectious lyrics! Maddening!
A very fine bit of prose, though I suspect a lot of it was more for public consumption than for the Monster attourneys.
I think Monster has handed him a HUGE public relations and promotional boon.
In the mean time, monoprice just chunks along selling great products at great prices. It will be interesting to read the bit coming out on audioholics.
Of course, this will all fly well above those folks buying Monster stuff from Bestbuy...
What a way to boost the value of the company you are about to purchase

You weren't supposed to tell!
Not if Blue Jeans is privately held.
Privately holding what part of whose jeans? Why do you have to say stuff like that?
You beat Peter to it, Charles. Of course, by agreement of the parties a privately held corporation can be acquired.
Yeah, but somehow I doubt that the Blue Jeans owner is going to sell out to Monster.
Charles, I'm ignoring you.
Yeah Ken, Mo's suggestion of a conspiracy is entertaining, but unlikely. Without publicly traded stock there'd be nothing to increase in value from the publicity(this is probably what you meant).
The plot thickens!
Kurt answers my post on MonsterCommunity.comI'm, for the moment, assuming that this is really Kurt. How wild. I'm thinking about responding with a link to this thread so that he can see our responses/opinions/adoration/conspiracy theories - pipe down, you!
To quote the man, "Any thoughts?"
Monster should buy him an apology cake. It had better be chocolate. Nothing says "I'm sorry" better than chocolate.
It's too bad you've dragged Axiom into this. Now Monster's going to buy Ian out too. Come to think of it, maybe that's not too bad for Ian
.
Wow, this is very interesting. Can't wait to see how Monster proceeds.
And, if you believe the stories at MonsterGreed.com. he and Amie could also tool around town in the exotic cars that are kept at Monster HQ for all the execs to share.
If Monster bought Axiom, the M80s would probably tripple in price :(. Monster would somehow convince people the price is worth it...
Well yeah...of course...they'd use their physics-defying wire. If you put your ear close to one of their cables, you can hear the electrons and holes playing nice with each other.
You know, I'd probably use the opposite of that in marketing... think of it.
"Here, put your ear up to this cable."
"I don't hear anything."
"That's right--what you're not hearing is distortion caused by <insert technobabble here>, just the pure transfer of music from one place to another."
Did you say you work for Pear?
The only thing you'll hear are your triple digit profit margins. I'll go into business with you on this, Ken!
I've got some venture capital lying around somewhere... I'm in, but only if I get to be the Executive Vice President in charge of Vice.
I've got some venture capital lying around somewhere... I'm in, but only if I get to be the Executive Vice President in charge of Vice.
Only if you start wearing sport coats over your pastel shirts.
Oh, and you have to push the sleeves up.
So... I work for Blue Jeans Cable / Tartan Cable. I can tell you that there is no way in hell that Kurt would sell out to Monster. We exist as a business to give an alternative to Monster's (and other's) high price / high BS products. As soon as we get a response from Monster, I'm sure it'll be posted at audioholics.com
And, yes - that actually is Kurt on the Monstercommunity forum.
Thanks to everyone for your support on this one. We're working on getting more bandwidth for our server, since we're getting slammed as of the release of Kurt's response letter.
Having it posted on Slashdot can't help with the server load.
In any case, keep up the good work!
Welcome, StudioRat. Thanks for chiming in.
"Not only am I unintimidated by litigation; I sometimes rather miss it."
Ha!
"Not only am I unintimidated by litigation; I sometimes rather miss it."
Ha!
My sister liked that line a lot. It's great.
Doc, if you have venture capital available you certainly must have a lot more available for something a bit more established than Ken's proposal. I'm pleased to advise you that we(I'm part owner)are offering
Denon for sale . Now, profits were down a little last fiscal year and $700M might seem a bit pricey, but not to worry; wait'll they see our new xx09 series receivers!
As your 1st action as CEO, please repair my DVD-2930ci so it tracks better. I haven't been able to get customer service to help me out at all with it... Even if I offer to pay for the repair!
And please reduce the output impedance of the sub out circuit.
OK, now you're just making words up.
My first order of business will be to leave a flaming bag of Sean's elephant's doo at the front door of BOSE headquarters. No, make that a barrel.
Then, when everybody runs out of the building, rubbing their eyes and trying not to pass out, they'll be easy prey. We'll all line up with butterfly nets that I borrowed from my hospital, and we'll capture them for sorting. The "engineers" and R&D people we'll catch-and-release. They are obviously of no use to us.
The marketing department will be assimilated. We will take their amazing attributes and make them our own.
Who's with me?
Oh, and another welcome for StudioRat - thanks for the reply, and good luck with everything. I'm staying tuned for further details!
Welcome, StudioRat. Thanks for chiming in.
Is this THE Tom Tuttle from Tacoma, WA? I think you went to school with my wife & Sister in law.
Great news! Now we can find out how cool Tom
thought he was in high school.
Yearbook pictures are a requirement.
Tom Tuttle is just his screen name. Who'd want to make a name like Thomiascz Tutloyovishnikov public, anyway?
Oh crap. Sorry, Tom.
But he told me his real name was Tom Bertleman. Why'd he give me an alias? Unless Peter's just being funny, and then ...
Oh crap. Sorry, Tom.
Anybody hear anything new on this story?
I haven't been able to find anything new, but did run across an interesting article from 2004
SFGate Come on, going after Disney for Monsters Inc.
It takes some serious hutzpah to go after Disney's lawyers. Hell, they own Representatives and Senators!
I do so hope Monster got a good smackdown. Shame we'd never hear it if they did, I suppose.
yah, I read through that yesterday and meant to post a link here but forgot... I was a little dissapointed that the entire article is basically just a summary.. I was expecting some type of response from Monster
