By request of JP and Sean...
Here it is, the thread in which to post your x00 or x000 posts. Or even the x0000 posts.
Woo!
9000 posts!
Woo!
I'm gaining on you, Peter...
izzat good, Sean?
Does this mean we can't reply if it's not our anniversary too?
Oops, too late!
Congrats, respected elder!
(can't believe I just said that, and will deny it if it's ever brought up. Wait - board posts are permanent. D'oh!)
Ken, congratulations on your repeated long-windedness!
Can you go through your previous 9000 posts and summarize them for the new guys?
*sigh*
There's a difference between cables, no there isn't, there's no difference between receivers, maybe there is, pacify pacify, unload on someone before I had coffee, apologize, pacify pacify, silly crap that's only funny to me (times 100), give vaguely useful advice, pontificate on something that I'm just making up, silly crap that's only funny to JP, Sean, and me, *post deleted*, posts about speaker cables that link to the same article times 100, single word posts.
Is that enough?
You should have started with that one!
Happy Thousandary(the "d" is silent)!
Yeah, but I didn't think of it. You're right, it would have been better.
[radio announcer] The Sean and Ken show is brought to you by Axiom Audio, makers of high-end loudspeakers at back alley prices. Axiom Audio, for the finest sound anywhere. [/radio announcer]
Ken, that was awesome! Keep up the good work.
The big question we're all wondering is where I will get to 10,000 before Ken does. I wouldn't put money on me, if you're thinking about it.
Hmmm. I've reinstigated Top Poster box while we find out who it will be!
No, no. Don't give me incentive. I'll have to lower my standards for humor and push out some bad puns, or something.
One more round of haikus?
a round of haikus
lets flow a torrent of posts
like a laxative
Hmmm. I've reinstigated Top Poster box while we find out who it will be!
Me! if I can get my SuperBot3000 program up and running ...
I figure I'll get it to start a "Time thread" where it posts every minute ("The time is now ____"). In a week I'll be a shareholder in the making!
JK!
The mental image
Your haiku puts in my head
Is discomforting
My dear rainbow head!
Has it outlived its appeal?
That is the question.
As I sit waiting
for the obvious answer
I'll make a cascade
Four in a row now
(not counting this one of course)
Psychedelic, eh?
Am I a post whore?
Or do I just love you guys
more than my day job?
You're a post whore it
must be said. Oh please get rid
of the rainbow head.
By request of JP and Sean...
Here it is, the thread in which to post your x00 or x000 posts. Or even the x0000 posts.
And for my 10th post -- oops -- mmmm nothing for x0
Congratulations anyways. At least it wasn't a haiku.
C'mon, Murph, you know you want to haiku with us.
All the cool kids are doing it ...
Screw the haiku. Why don't we adopt un-metered prose? Just write long sentences with as many words as you can possibly cram in and with as few punctuation marks as you can manage and then most people will be able to read it without feeling like you're talking down to them or trying to make them feel inferior to your unparalleled mastery of the English language that you worked so hard to gain when you were in college -- that is when you weren't busy getting drunk and trying to pick up anything with breasts that moved.
mmm, breasts that move ...
I always wonder
where folks get so much free time
during the work day.
It comes from having
a desk job in IT when
the users are calm.
Procrastinating!
A wise man told me that it
Always pays off now.
I always wonder
where folks get so much free time
during the work day.
My patients agree.
If only they knew that I'm
In here goofing off.
The wastebasket full of kleenex begs to differ.
The wastebasket full of kleenex begs to differ.
If you take the "f" out of the last line, you'd be pretty close.
Hey, you brought it up. *innocent look*
Yeah, I'm going with eww all around..
This is my 9800th post. Somehow that seems so much closer to 10000 than nine thousand seven hundred something.
Hurry up so we can get the coronation underway.
I've been making a small effort.
I forget who does the actual crowning. Alan? Ian? Ian's mom?
I want to crown him!
Crown (transitive verb) blah blah blah, coronations, blah blah, oh yes, here we go, 6th definition: to hit on the head.
Peter's been needing a crowning for some time.
I think it's generally the Archbishop, so that's probably going to be Alan, no?
I don't know... does he move diagonally?
Bren R.
I don't know the answer to that one, but if he moves horizontally, I don't think I want to hear the details.
Yes, and when there's somebody short standing in his way he gets really impatient.
He's really racist, though, always knocking over those of the opposite color.
Erezatz post #500. The real one happened 10 minutes ago while I was still waking up.
We should institute a small prize to encourage Peter and Ken towards 10,000.
I'm thinking a nice set of Monster cables.
I'm thinking something steampunk.
I'm cool with that. I like steampunk, unlike Mr. Grumpypants.
I suppose I can see the appeal of making something modern look parallel-universe-retro-tacky -- ok. I'm lying. I can't see the appeal.
No Bioshock for you, Mr. Grumpypants!
I suppose I can see the appeal of making something modern look parallel-universe-retro-tacky --
That shortens to purty.
1500th post ...
I'd like to thank the Academy, my agent, my make-up artist, my fluffer, and my mentor, Mr. Tom Cruise.
Thank you!
Here comes Ken with 9100...
I think Ken is savoring the moment. . .either that or he's asleep.
Peter, you could always post your 10,000th in here, you know.
Your buddy Ken set it up real nice for ya.
Sean and I had to twist his arm - it was fun, eh, Sean?
Hey, I'm a doctor and I said you feel fine, dammit!
Well, my wife did a google search and some intense research, and she says I don't feel fine! Doctors aren't always right! So there. :-P
Are you trusting those 12 year olds from Kansas? They always have the best web sites.
Aww, missed my free 9200 post. Oh well, guess I'll follow Peter's example and take it at 9203.
I love you guys! *sniff*
Seriously, here's hoping that Axiom's generosity continues at some level for each shareholder-in-the-making. Ken, you would be a worthy recipient.
Now where's that postBot program ...
Hmmm. I've reinstigated Top Poster box while we find out who it will be!
You mean Peter's post count went back to zero?
Hey, now Ken has a chance at cracking the 10k solo.
9300! Free post, free post!
Move along, nothing to read here...
wow, 100 posts in 11 days? not bad!
Yay, post 2000.
I see that it took me 2.33 years to get 1500 posts, but only 2 months (and a day) to add another 500.
Hmm, now why is my desk covered with work?
Yay.
Now you just have to catch and subdue Sean.
Why? He's not the one who owes me $6!
*bump*
So, I see that Ken is within 20 posts of 10,000!
Are the Axiom elves polishing off a surprise, hmm?
Man, I couldn't find this thread when I hit 9900. Couldn't remember what it was called.
That's it, you're uninvited to the Scrabble party.
And now, introducing Ken Carlile's 10000th post....
This is like seeing the odometer rolling over in a car!
He's sure taking his sweet time. I thought I would be able to drop in and he would have already posted.
I have been sitting here ALL DAY waiting for Charles' #3,000.
Tick freaking tock, buddy.
I have been sitting here ALL DAY waiting for Charles' #3,000.
Tick freaking tock, buddy.
Oops. I wasn't even paying close attention to how close I was.
For some reason, hitting 3000 makes me think my time is almost up.
You're on the downside of your career now. Better get used to DHing. . .
Yep... It probably is...
JK! Congrats!
Hey, congrats from me, too!
Thanks for giving me another easy reason to post and pad my count, that is...
Finally reached 4000, 1000 more I can cut back and concentrate on other important matters........
Finally reached 4000, 1000 more I can cut back and concentrate on other important matters........
... such as how to reach 10000 faster?
Finally, hit 1,000.
At my current rate it will be halfway through 2015 before I'm back in this thread again.
You could come back for 1010.
LOL!
Whee, 2500 posts - I'm 1/4 way to some cool swag!
What'll they be giving out in 2015, I wonder?
A pen with the word "Axion" on it.
Of course, then you need another pen to fix that to read "Axiom."
Exactly.
One of my clients a few years ago gave me a pen. Not because they particularly liked me, or because they wanted to promote themselves, or because I did a good job (which I did), but because the pen had a typo and they were trying to get rid of them.
Can't say I miss that client.
Was it at least otherwise a quality writing instrument?
The pen said, "Ken is the beast!"
Strangely, that's all it wrote, too!
Actually, yes, it is a decent pen.
Just a friendly bump as I wait breathlessly for Jakewash's #5000.
I would just like to thank the Acadamy and all my fans for this award and I would also like to say that I am giving up posting to concentrate on my Rock Band, Axiom
. You may see me from time to time on talk shows acting very strange, well stranger than usual, but have no fear I will always be an Axiomite!
Thank you all!!!!
5000 posts, whew, I wonder if I had not strayed away from the forum how many I would have by now. I think I would be right up there with Ken and Peter, I must find some more balance in my life, more time listening to my system and others as time permits and alot more time with my family, so back to my other life I go, for any one reading this feel free to PM me if I can ever be of service.
Now the deed is done back to your regularly scheduled programming..............
I can't wait to pass your post count.
Hey, congrats! But you don't have to leave....
I think he was Joaquining. He'll be back, like a Phoenix from the mass of hair.
*bump*
pmbuko is sitting on an even 12,000. Happy Anniversary!
sirquack is approaching shareholder status at 9993.
CV just passed the 5000 mark and within the week should pass spiffnme and wid to become 7th in total post count.
And it should be noted that our very own JP is approaching 3000!
Which is a lot of jokes when you think about it. . . .
And dittohead comments.
I agree!
Ditto.
Wow, those are easy ways to get more posts!!
For a second I thought "Anniversary Thread" meant David had already been married for a year. I wondered where I stepped in a big pile of time warp.
By the way, I still maintain that MY posts are the most useless.
And soon CV will over take me as my daily schedule has changed and I have much less time for the forum, pretty much stuck posting a few things when I get home from work at 3AM now.
Go Charles Go.
Let's go to 20,000 before anyone else!
12,001? Woot!
I think someone's spinning my wheels when I'm not online. This postometer can't be right.
Well, I don't think CV had a celebration for #6,500 today, but I wanted to take a moment upon my #4,600.
I appreciate the guidance and collegiality you all provide here so much. I am very happy to be part of this internet community.
Happy 4,600th anniversary Tom!
I am very happy to be part of this internet community.
I'm with you on that. This is by far the best online group I've ever been a part of. Congratulations on your post cost. I know you've made a lot more posts that matter than I have.
Ah hate you guys.
</cartman>
Rehspect Ken's Authuritee....
OMG!! THEY KILLED KENNY's AUTHURITEE!!
(Re-rail)
It's not so much an anniversary post, like the big 10,000, but it is noteworthy that Ken and Peter are tied at the moment. Each is the top poster with 13,403 posts.
Vegas says "We can't believe neither one of those yobbos has posted anything in the last 45 minutes!"
I think they should both just stop posting altogether and remain tied forever.
Of course, I thought Barry Bonds should have retired after hitting #755, too.
Damn. And I was going to coordinate with Ken on this with a couple animated Gifs. In my post, there was going to be a hand passing a torch downward. And in his, right below mine, would be a hand receiving the torch.
So much for style.
Nice idea.
I've been watching the post count for the last few months. I remember him being 500 behind you, then 400, creeping up steadily, 300, 200 ... the last 100 seem to have gone faster. I thought about keeping track and graphing it. Then I realized that'd be insane, and I'd have to medic8 myself.
Even more than I already do, I mean.
Well, Peter, if you want to do it, I haven't passed you yet. Still have about 20 threads to go through tonight, though.
It's not a "number of posts" anniversary, but I noticed it was Ken's 7th annual anniversary today (err...yesterday)!
Well, Peter, if you want to do it, I haven't passed you yet. Still have about 20 threads to go through tonight, though.
Still Neck & Neck at 13,407.....
Is this gonna be like one of those tear jerkers where you both help each other over the finish line?
Ken's totally blowing it!
He got this close to taking the lead, and he choked!
Peter is up by ten again.
Maybe Ken backed off because the winner has to provide a urine sample. Not implying anything, just saying.
I'm just toying with him. Cat with its prey, ya know?
You callin' Peter a RAT now ?!!
Thhhsspppt! needs more salt and pepper.
Hey, as far as round numbers go, I see where we have 7999 members on the boards. Maybe the next n00b will introduce himself/herself - aw, who am I kidding - and we can give Mr. 8000 a warm Axiom welcome.
Well, here's the post that passes Peter (for the first time). I imagine we'll be trading back and forth a bit...
Honestly, now that I'm up against it, I'm not so sure I want to be the top poster... we seem to be targets for ire recently (why yes, I am a shill for Axiom, thankyaverramuch), but hey, there we are.
Like at every milestone, I have to thank you all for making these forums such a fun, welcoming, and friendly place to hang out online. I wouldn't have posted so much if I didn't like you guys so much!
Naturally, I also have to thank Axiom for providing a forum (for lack of a better term) for all this fun and friendship. If it wasn't for Ian, Alan, Amie, Peter, JC, Brent, Noreen, et al., none of us would be here, and few of us would know each other, much less have the friendships that we have developed. What an amazing company!
Of course, by posting this now, Peter will be swooping in to top my post count and throw me back down to number 2. T minus 10...
The evidence:
Well said, Grover!
We gots 8000 members now!!!

NO, I AM SPARTICUS!
Whew, at least I'm still at the bottom of the top.
That's better than "Phineas T. Peckerwood the 2nd".
If a few of us volunteered to stay over @ Randy's house for a couple of days, how many hours do you think it'd take for us to amass 2200 posts in his name?
A three-way heat would be way more fun; sort of like an Arizona gubernataorial election---or a second visit from Ross Perot.
If a few of us volunteered to stay over @ Randy's house for a couple of days, how many hours do you think it'd take for us to amass 2200 posts in his name? till it turned into a "Ghost and Mr. Chicken" scenario and we all ended possessed?
Really, I sort of figured that's how it would actually begin
And thanks for sticking Don Knotts in my head for the rest of the day
You might me able to get most of him in there, but I think the forehead would be left sticking out. It's *huge*.
I know the feeling, I was once ahead of Charles. He is steadily getting farther away from my post counts and is creeping up on JohnK's post count.
Must help JohnK retain his lead!
Hey John, this digital receiver here sounds way better that that one over there.....
No, let the gas bag overtake him!
Charles, you forgot to log in as BBIGWYRES to post that.
Well, this is my 5,000th post in just shy of 7 years.
There are many others with a higher number of posts, and still others with more meaningful posts. I am - regrettably - not as funny or knowledgeable as most of you.
I did want to take this opportunity to again say Thank You to the many fine individuals who I have met - both personally and virtually - through this forum. Of course, I am especially grateful to Axiom for enabling such free and occasionally substantive discussion. I am happy at this online home. You have all taught me so much, not only about music, technology and other facts, but also about the tremendous joy of making new friends.
So, thanks for showing up here and sharing yourselves. Your kindness and generosity meaningfully adds to my great good fortune in having a fundamentally happy and satisfying life.
Cheers, my friends!
Yeah, yeah, yeah!
Congratulations, Mr. Tom!
I nominate Tom for official Axiom Toastmaster.
As usual, you said it perfectly.
Don't be too modest, though. Your posts are quite worthy.
Congrats, Tom! Please keep posting!
Congratulations on the milestone, Tom! I sincerely hope you stick around for another 5,000.
Congrats! Would you like to be General Toastmaster, or The Toastmaster General?
Congratulations Tom! we also enjoy sharing your friendship and company here.
Errr....don't ask me to share any of this apple pie with you though....CHOMP!!...CHEW!!....CHOMPFF!!.....
Tom:
I will have a beer in your honor tonight.
Actually, since you're so honorable, I'll have two.
I nominate Tom for official Axiom Toastmaster.
As usual, you said it perfectly.
Don't be too modest, though. Your posts are quite worthy.
And......you have a cool avatar. :: Tips his glass ::
Just missed the 3000 post "anniversary"... Well... it's a 3001 "anniversary" then!
Dang, another guy who's gonna pass me soon. Don't you have some books to be writin'?
I mean, congratulations!
I just noted that Ken is sitting at an even 14,000 posts. How's the weather up there?
Yeah, that's crazy. I'm never going to catch up.
Hey, you're just a few short of 8000. And I see you're number four on the list now.
I'm still number one as far as being useless!
Ummmm. Haven't you been reading any of mine?
I'm still number one as far as being useless!
Pfff. Braggart!
Yeah, I noticed that too, awhile after I posted. Well, now I've gone and ruined it.
Ken's #1 as far as ruining things!
Ummmm. Haven't you been reading any of mine?
You lift our spirits.
I think Mark is more of a beer guy.
I dunno, it would take more than beer to wear an Ultraman outfit.
His first choice was the "Gazoo" outfit, but it wouldn't fit.
Ken's #1 as far as ruining things!
Well, I confirmed with Amy L. yesterday, so I'm willing to bet I can give him a run for that title.
Seriously, looking forward to meeting those with whom I've been time-frittering.
Here's post #4000. It has about as much quality as all my other posts.
Hey hey, and JohnK's got 8000 right now. At this very moment.
Oh, yeah, just noticed JohnK is sitting at a round 8000.
Mark has been sitting at a square 12 ft for years.
Here's post #4000. It has about as much quality as all my other posts.
It may be toilet paper, but at least it's quilted!
Hey, that's THIRTEEN feet SQUARE.....!
JP, Congrats. At the rate you've been posting of late, you should hit 4100 by, say, Spring.
(He says because he misses the wit)
I just kind of noticed I was approaching 5,400. BFD, you may rightly say.
I always appreciated taking a moment to reflect when faced with those nice, round numbers. When I was but a lad, I collected baseball cards (in the good, old days, when you actually had to buy pink, gum-flavored cardboard to get the cards). Topps - who was at that time the only manufacturer - reserved numbers on the 100 (or on the 50) for star players. In a seemingly random assignment of ~700 cards representing each player in both leagues, Card number 1 was inevitably someone special, as were cards 100, 200, etc.
Now, I'm not going to be able to say anything "special" for post #5,400, but I do enjoy recycling threads. And Peter completely whiffed on his #14,000, so I had to pick him up.
I have reflected almost daily since the Axiom 30th Anniversary on how much I continue to value interactions here. That event helped me to "hear" posts in the voices of their authors, which has amused me no end. I treasure the experiences of that gathering.
Some of you have already heard this story, but I hope you will indulge me a Ray/Jack moment. When my Dad was sick before he passed away about five years ago, I was spread really thin to the point where I literally could not plan more than a day or so in advance. During that time, a personal philosophy crystallized for me - Show Up, Do Your Best and Be Nice. Some days, accomplishing even that was (and remains) challenging, but it was really all I could do. I am constantly surprised by the inability of the general population (and my offspring) to accomplish those tenets.
However, the good people of this forum seem to embrace those principles so consistently that I am unable to pull myself away from you.
Just keep being awesome, everybody.
I will.
Can't speak for the others.
Nice post, Tom. We like you, too.
Is it raining in here?
Tom, that was beautiful.
No. Ultraman set the sprinkler system off with his Ray Weapon.
Uhh....not to be confused with the weapon Ray used in the anechoic chambre, for the record.
Nice writeup, Tom.
Nice Tom! I've always enjoyed reading all of your ever so eloquently versed postings. Sorry to hear about your dad, I did not know that.
~~ UltraMan's Jack: It Forgets, Bitches! ~~
Well ... *most* of them were eloquent.
Very nice Tom.
Sounds to me like you are saying you hear voices in your head?
I will.
Can't speak for the others.
Nice post, Tom. We like you, too.
+1
That was nice, Tom! You made me teary-eyed here! I also reflect upon the anniversary celebration, and I couldn't agree with you more.
Well said, Tom. If I am ever in Washington, I will buy you a beer.
And if I am ever in Houston, I shall buy you one!
Dang. I can't wait that long. I think I'll buy myself one.
Very nice, Tom. You're a good soul, buddy.
Even if you ARE a freakin' walkie.
a round of haikus
lets flow a torrent of posts

Gets my vote for top ten posts of all time.
HEHEHE
. You're beginning to dislike each other! The first stage of my grand plan is coming to fruition! First, you walkie's abhor each other, then you'll hate yourself!
Gimps will rule the world!
Oh yeah, don't read into my pleasant words too much, Mark.
I nominate Tom for official Axiom Toastmaster.
As usual, you said it perfectly.
Don't be too modest, though. Your posts are quite worthy.
I was going to say that anyone who can drink that much beer and still speak so eloquently should not only be a toastmaster, but should be made an honourary Canadian, although
it appears that we no longer are in the top five of consumption per capita, so
here's to your Irish roots Tom!!
(we usually don't speak very eloquently after beers anyway)
a round of haikus

Ahh, so THAT'S how I got my post count.
And to think they gave you some products for 10,000 of similar posts
It wasn't for the posts, but the personality behind them.
At least that's what I tell myself every morning.
And that tongue is now aprapos
And post 15000. Woo woo!
As always, it's the people that make this board a special place. Thanks, everyone!
Congrats, Ken!
Now that you've proven yourself with 15000 posts, I guess I can start listening to you now.
Seriously? The rest of us are waiting for 20K.
Almost as good as watching Hank Aaron count down to the Babe's record.
I think that CatBrat has figured out their secrets... For every post of some level of relevance or relationship to Axiom, stereo, home theater, or just audio in general, there are several "crap" posts about some ramblings of some sort on a topic in the water cooler, or as a thread derailment to take a posting about audio and turn it into a water cooler thread.
Of course, I love those posts! I just am not very good at making those posts.... I mean, I've been around for almost 6.5 years here, and only average about 30 posts a month... The last 1.5 years have been even harder since I have been living about 2 hours away from all of my home theater (Axiom) gear. Hard to get fired up sometimes when I get to look at either a 27" tube TV with its built in paper speakers or a 22" LCD with my PC with my *great* $15 headphones from Wallymart.
Congrats, Ken.
Really? A chronic oozing of mildly interesting information, spiny comments and thorny retorts gets people free stuff here?!? I shoulda started earlier.
Yeah, congrats Ken. I didn't mean to make it sound like I was taking a stab at ya with my 3 posts in a row to up your counts. As to the other comment, we all know that for every on-topic and good comment, there are 10 that just eat up Axiom's disk space.
And that's why a lot of us keep coming back.
Life is short - have fun.
I seem to remember seeing a book on Ian's desk to that point, about smoking cigars and drinkin' and stuff.
Can you hear read me now?
15000 posts! How many keyboards did you break during that process?
What were we talking about again?
Good place, thanks to all of you. Even Ken. He's the Ichiro of the Axiom boards.
Let's chip in to get Nick some new headphones.
Wow, I'm now officially an Axiomite.
My online status matches that shirt that Mary made me last year.
How did she know?
How.......... did.........she........know????????
That does NOT make sense, okay?
I want a shirt that says "Axiomoe Audiopile".
You guys are suffering from Axiomosis. Maybe JP has something for that.
I don't think so, he is suffering too.
May he should change his id to SelfMedic8r.
I was really hoping I could get to 10,000 posts this year. It's still possible, but not without really annoying you guys (more than usual). I guess 2012 is my year. Sorry if it's also the year we all die. Coincidence, I swear.
That's why I am letting you hit 10,000 first, to see what happens to the rest of us.
Well, it is the year of the dragon.
10,000! And only 9,000 of them were about Regina.
I certainly didn't expect to stick around in a message board about home theater. I figured I was going to be into the hobby for the long haul, but let's face it, the odds are against you in finding an online community that you feel you click with. Okay, so maybe I'm being a bit presumptuous. For all I know, the PM feature could be used primarily to snicker about me without my knowledge. Wait, now I'm sounding like BobKay. Honestly, I don't think you'd limit the fun to private messages when my face is right here, ready to be blasted. Okay, now I'm sounding like Tyler's mom.
Oh, wrong group. We're always talking about Tyler's mom at work. The references to his mother persisted even after he left us for a year. He actually came back not too long ago, albeit as a per diem employee. What a homecoming to find his mother still near and dear to our hearts.
Don't sidetrack me. You guys are great. Coming here and catching up every day is a highlight. Axiom has been a great company to deal with. I feel like I'm definitely getting my money's worth using their gear. You guys have helped me get even more out of my home theater. I really appreciate the time people have taken to give me a clue. I still have a long way to go, so I just want to warn you that I won't be mojoing out of here anytime soon.
I know I've talked about getting another brand of speakers for a second music-only system, and I still think that would be fun, but Axiom is consistently putting out new products that I want. It's hard not to support that. Here's to a long friendship with Axiom and all of you guys who are a part of my Axiom experience.
Yay for being a shareholder in the making.
Well said CV, congrats on the milestone.
Thanks! I'll see you here soon.
Charles? Charles? Oh yeah, the Regina guy. I guess I know who he is.....
Happy 10,000th! Maybe Jack will come along with all sorts of little graphics celebrating with balloons and stuff!
Yea!!! 10,000!!! Amazing!! Congratulations! We're so lucky to have you!
Congrats, CV!!
And, to echo Jason, well said. This is a pretty cool place to hang out and you definitely add to that equation.
Maybe Jack will come along with all sorts of little graphics celebrating with balloons and stuff!
I'm too embarrassed that some whippersnapper, who joined the forum two and a half years AFTER me, became a shareholder in the making BEFORE I did
. OK, OK I'm envious too. Alright, maybe just one balloon.
Congratulations Charles!!!!!
Jack, if you had posed 20% as often about Diana Krall as Charles had about Regina, you would have beat him to the mark!
Maybe, to counter his "What I dreamt about" thread, you could start one on "Chocolate Chip Cookies you have known and loved"?
PS- I KNEW that you would have a balloon graphic ready!
Congrats, CV!
You are at - or near, to protect the feelings of others - the top of the list of the "Axiomoes that I haven't met yet, but really want to meet" list.
In case you can't tell, I like to make and keep lists with wordy titles.
Congratz Charles!!!
I always enjoy your posts. In that 10,000 you have probably provided more diversity than anyone in your topics, tales and dreams. It's been (and will continue to be) very fun.
Jack, if you had posed. . .
Ew, do we really want to Jack to pose?
Welcome to the club, CV! Your supersecret decoder ring will be in the supersecret mail shortly.
Hint, the only supersecret message they send out is "remember to drink Ovaltine."
*sigh*
That's not true. We only drink premium chocolate-flavored milk-based drinks.
Ew, do we really want to Jack to pose?
Not if you want to keep your lunch down.
More proof that
"Hot in Cleveland" is a relative term.
Congratz Charles!!!

+1 What he said, so eloquently.
And, BTW, I still listen to the music that you so generously sent my way.
May we all be so fortunate that your tales and creativity continue to inspire and entertain us for years to come.
Charles, congratulations! We've greatly enjoyed your entertaining and informative posts. For example, how would we otherwise have learned about the almost magical properties of a Medusa's Head tote bag in attracting women?
Keep 'em coming; 20,000 is just over the horizon.
Congrats on reaching the 10K post mark Charles!
Congrats on 10K, Charles. You've made a Spektorcal of yourself over the years.
Thanks again, guys. My day has been a little off, so this definitely makes it brighter. I started off the day with a voicemail about possible fraudulent charges on my debit card. Usually it's when I forget or don't realize that I'm ordering something from the UK or somewhere else outside the US and I don't call my bank to let them approve the charge. This time I actually hadn't ordered anything foreign. The voicemail said Ireland, but the charge in my account history on the bank's website said Redwood, CA, so that was a little different. It was Electronic Arts, and while it wouldn't be unusual for me to order from them, it wasn't anything I'd ordered. So now another card is toast, and I need to go to one of the branches tomorrow to have a new one printed up.
After that, it should have been an easy day at work, but there were printer issues, and the extra project I was trying to finish didn't go smoothly at all. It wasn't anything new, but I kept forgetting bits and pieces, so I ended up having to go back and forth from the main storeroom to another room we keep supplies in. I was getting really frustrated after about the fourth trip between the two.
So yeah, just a weird day. Thanks for letting me come home to your warm comments!
You know the main reason I came back was to see how quickly I could pass you up.
You know the main reason I came back was to see how quickly I could pass you up.
Now we're talking.
By the way, if you end up reading
The Princess Bride, I'd love to hear what you think of it. I need to read it again sometime. At least now I know the final
Wheel of Time book won't be out until January, so I'm not so rushed to re-read the series. I can fit other books in!
I too saw that the Wheel of Time series was finally finished, and thought about starting it.
Have you read the first two (of three) books of Patrick Rothfuss's Kingkiller Chronicles yet? If not, you need to do so now.
Yeah, I'll have to put The Princess Bride in my Kindle wishlist. Still keeping with my resolution to read at least a chapter of a book a day, haven't missed yet.
Have you read the first two (of three) books of Patrick Rothfuss's Kingkiller Chronicles yet? If not, you need to do so now.
I haven't yet, but the first is in my Saved For Later on Amazon.com. I still plan on getting it! I can't right now considering my debit card issue, but I'll tell you what. It'll be the first thing I order after I get my new card tomorrow.
You're lucky that you can get a replacement card so quick. It was about 2 weeks before I could buy stuff on the Internet again after my card was compromised. I think I got the shakes and everything.
Considering the facts; tomorrow is acceptable.
I thought I could get around it and purchase the Kindle version of the book today by setting up my checking account itself as a payment option, but it seems to only be working on physical goods. I was able to preorder the new Cranberries album using my checking account, but when I tried to purchase the Kindle version of the book, it kept asking me to enter card info, never giving me the option of selecting my checking account, even after I went into my 1-Click settings and set it as my default payment option.
Tomorrow it is. And yeah, I'm definitely glad I can go in and have new cards printed up right at the bank now. Such a convenience.
That sucks Charles, my wife recently went through a similar ordeal when her wallet was stolen.
I had to get a new card and new number last month because of an overseas fraudulent charge. I also changed all of my passwords.
I never use my debit card online. Too dangerous, and the CC companies have better protections.

I received the first book as a Christmas present, but I have not started reading yet. Want to wait until the final book is available. I like reading a series all at once.
WoT isn't quite finished, per se, but the current author is revising his second draft of the last book. Announced date is January 2013.

But not everyone has credit that allows the acquisition of a CC. Me included. Maybe some day soon. Banks just not issuing them like before.
10,000 posts, never thought I would make it to this point and on my birthday no less, woohoo!
I would like to thank the academy.... errr, the peanut gallery for allowing me to hang out and feel apart of this amazing little community we have here. I am constantly amazed at the breadth of knowledge that can be found on the pages of this forum.
Getting to know the crew on the forum has been a nice benefit of the Axiom experience I wasn't counting on 9 years ago when I made my first purchase and consequent first postings. I hope to one day have a chance to meet most, if not all of you at another Axiom gtg sometime in the future.
Special thanks to Axiom for allowing the likes of myself and the cast of regulars to hang out here, have some fun and share, at times, very insightful information.
I wish you all a happy 10,000th post in your futures.
Welcome to the club, and congratulations.
Jason, warmest thanks for your consistently meaningful contributions to the community.
Congratulations, Jason; have always looked forward to your posts.
Congrats, Jason. Welcome to the (small but ever growing) club.
::knock-knock-knock::
Right behind you Jason!
Soon, the club won't be anything to brag about!
That happened back when I got company.
Gratz Jason. I'm glad your still around. You are one of the folks who keep the board interesting, fun and insightful, even after 10,000 posts.

Jason, with these remarks, it sounds like you're running for some kind of office or something!
Congrats on finally reaching 10,000 posts Jason.
Congrats Jason. You did it the hard way, posting useful information
::knock-knock-knock::
Right behind you Jason!
Soon, the club won't be anything to brag about!
Who knew noodling around could get you so far in the [Axiom] world!
Jason, congratulations! I've enjoyed (and still do) reading your posts. Thank you for all your contributions over the years.
Well, here's #7,400.
Yeah, I know. I either can't wait for or don't notice the "major" ones, so I just indulge myself in a bit of nostalgia and gratitude periodically.
It's been almost ten years since I registered here (hail the prolific and tenacious Axiom class of 2003!). That's hard for me to believe. It's also hard for me to believe how much I've enjoyed my time here, and how much I've learned.
You are a lovely bunch of people, and I sincerely thank you for sharing your time and expertise so patiently. As technology marches on and new members join, the Axiom forum continues to be a comfortable place to discuss common interests with friends.
Moreover, thanks to Amie, Ian and the whole crew for continuing to make compelling products and providing such a warm and civil environment for us.
Cheers, and Happy New Year!
Congratulations on the big seven-four-oh-oh? Beer and bacon to you!
Woo! 15,791 back atcha!.
Nice sentiments, Tom.
Oh, and class of 2004: Woot-Woot!
The class of 2006 party is where you want to be. CV's booked the entertainment (Regina Spektor fronting Negative Orange) and Murph and I are bringing the bootlegged and pharmaceutical party favors.
Hey guys, do you think he knows we're on his lawn?!
'04 is
Just made it into the class of '03
Jack, I'm going to make it a point to call you a punk kid, too.
I'm two coffee behind this morning so I have nothing sarcastic to say. It's been a pleasure Tom and I consider it a personal highlight to have met you and many others mentioned above in person two summers ago.
I think, JP, we should allow the others to attend the concert as special guests. Except maybe for Charles. I want him there but I don't want to see him arrested for breaching his restraining order to not be in the same state as Regina. Slurp. Ahhhhh. First sip of coffee of the day.
... I don't want to see him arrested for breaching his restraining order to not be in the same state as Regina.
So we'll never see him in Saskatchewan, eh?
Yeah, I know: state/province. And, it was rotten low lying fruit. Maybe I need more coffee too.
HAH! I have ALL of you beat!!!!!
I registered on 2/19/47. Aaaaaah Ha Ha!!
Oops - that's my birthday. Looks like I was minted here in 2004.
Not that I want to hijack this thread but since coffee was mentioned, I recently became very interested in brewing a good cup. We are in the middle of kitchen renos (wife's idea, not mine, ha!) so I used it as an excuse to buy good new coffee gear.
This is what I got:
http://www.frcndigital.com/coffee/brazen.htmlhttp://www.williams-sonoma.com/products/nespresso-pixie-espresso-maker/http://www.costco.ca/Espressione-Professional-Conical-Burr-Coffee-Grinder.product.10338549.htmlI thought that cigar, wine & audio snobs were over the top; however, I found a review of my favourite Nespresso Pixie coffee capsule. I'm almost embarrassed to drink it after reading this:
Ristretto Espresso Capsule (Black):
Sweet-toned, lush aroma, with clear chocolate notes and hints of leather, fruit and flowers. In the small cup heavy body with a creamy though slightly rough mouthfeel, and deep, leather and fir-toned, cocoaish chocolate smoothing and sweetening in a long, rich finish. Good presence and body in two parts milk, but remains rather stolid, not quite fully opening and blooming.
This is about coffee?? I would never have thought, ha!
I make a capucchino every evening as a desert coffee after supper with this wonderful little Pixie machine (made in Switzerland for a change!). It is so quick & easy & turns out like this:
TAM
Your supersecret decoder ring will be in the supersecret mail shortly.
Ken, do you have my addess?
The supersecret mail doesn't use addresses. You would know that if you were worthy.
It would be no surprise to anyone to find I wasn't worthy.
Damn, I blew the big speech I had planned for the 10K, didn't I?
Hey, congrats, Mark!
I always knew you could do 10K!
Cheers, brother. It's only fitting that - for your 10,000th post - you resisted the urge to actually add value.
Congrahts on yah tihn thahsahnth pahsting, Mahk!
OK, I might have over-Normified that a little, but congrats, Mark!
JP- big difference between "doing 10K" and doing A 10K, huh?
Tom- I laughed out loud at that one!
Don't say "Norm" in these parts unless you have a beer in your hands!
Congratulations, Mark! I hope I'm alive to see 20k.
Just remember that you are not your post count.
Since my post count is essential to my self esteem, I feel I must step in here and regain a little ground.
In any case, congrats on 10K, Mark!
Cheers, brother. It's only fitting that - for your 10,000th post - you resisted the urge to actually add value.
I went there in my mind, but I wasn't so gauche as to type it out.
Wait, did I just think
that in my mind, or did I type it out?!
Hmmmm. I thought only Gauchos were gauche.
Bet you never thought you could noodle your way to 10K Mark. Looking forward to more of the same.
[I've got the shrink thinking I'm gauche. Step 27. Check. Plan unfolding beautifully and on target for full implementation by 2032 as scheduled.]
Hmm, assuming a moderate average of 1 minute per post, that equates to 10,000 minutes or 166 hours of time spent posting.
That works out to only 18 hours per year (or 1.53 hours per month) in total since Mark's 2004 registration.
I can't remember where i was going with this....but there's a joke in there somewhere, i'm certain.
Congrats Mark!! I still remember your Mother of All Posts. That was awesome. Now I just skim through all your stuff cuz I'm still not over being forced to read through that one giant post. Thanks for the brain cramp. Sheesh. And, uh, keep up the good work?
Seriously, though, thanks for your posts. Your sense of humor and wit have given me much needed laughs over the years. Cheers! *clink*
Sean wins. There was booze involved.
Mark, congratulations! Your example should serve as an inspiration to those also struggling with a square room and who hesitate to post on audio forums for fear of becoming an object of ridicule and pity.
Seriously, always enjoy the typical wittiness to be found in your posts.
I love John's dry humor. Especially that last line.
I hate everything!
Gratz though Mark!
<<Said in my best Achmed the Dead Terrorist voice.....>>
May a virgin for every post greet you in heaven.
EVERY post, or just the helpful ones?
Thanks, guys!
EVERY post, or just the helpful ones?
Thanks, guys!
Your wife emailed Murph to say it could only be for the useful ones.
So how does a negative number work out in this type of case?
You're not getting any tonight?
Once again you've made me laugh out loud Mark. At least I am alone working home office today so no strange looks from colleagues - woke the dog up though!
So, can I blame the dog's flatulence on Mark, then?
...but the public demands that I speak. Actually the reason I was hesitating was because I wanted to surpass Mark Johnson's 10,000th in eloquence and wanted to prepare a masterpiece such as Tom requested(plus chemistry and football coaching topics he neglected). Then I took a look at what Mark wrote and felt a burden lifted from my shoulders.
So here we are after a bit over 11 years with 10,000 posts(despite my efforts at holding the number down)and about 30,000 hours on my M22s(still waiting for "break-in" to change the sound). Back then when I started reading the Forums because of my interest in buying Axiom speakers I was somewhat dismayed because some questions implying that magic players, amplifiers and even connecting wires could be had by spending more money, weren't I thought adequately answered in some cases. My first recorded reply(anonymous replies were allowed before May of 2002)addressed one of those topics
here . Hopefully I've been able to continue in that vein with some posts emphasizing the basic scientific principles that continue to govern audio equipment despite incessant repetition of fanciful mythologies.
While audio equipment is science, music is art(borrowing from Dr. Toole), and my other primary interest here has been recommending recordings to encourage looking into the world of beautiful and exciting classical music that's waiting for us out there to give a listen.
I'm happy to be able to support an organization such as Axiom which produces excellent speakers, sells them at reasonable prices and follows no-nonsense technical principles. I do wish however that Ian hadn't added on the "in the making" to "shareholder" when we brought our speculations to his attention.
Have enjoyed the discussions with our members which has generally been on a remarkably sane level when viewed in the light of some other audio forums. Hope to continue for many more years on the march toward the 20,000 level that Axiom hasn't yet entitled.
This calls for a group hug! Congrats on the milestone, John! (For the Canadians, that's a 1.61 kilometerstone.)
Welcome to the club, JohnK. Thanks for all of the helpful advice you've given me over the years. Don't go away anytime soon!
John, thank you very much for contributing your wit and wisdom here. Cheers!
Congratulations, John! Thank you for all that you've contributed!
Now I have to look up my 10k post; I honestly have no idea of what I wrote.
Congratulations John!! It has been a pleasure.
Thank you for your wit, wisdom and always exemplary musical picks.
Congratulations John. Your time and help here is greatly appreciated.
