Fascinating stuff.

Thanks for posting this Fred. Funny how they are just now getting around to publishing studies on something we knew at least 30 years ago in the Marine Corps. On long forced marches many of us would carry a pocket full of lemon drops (my favorite) to suck on. Helped to force you to drink more water and just seemed to help keep you going.

I don’t think I’ll be spitting anything out on my runs for the next few months as the “warm” weather is approaching. It’s still not hot yet and this Friday I still came back 1 kg lighter than I started despite drinking over 4 liters of water and eating super-large order of fries.

Interesting article.

I first heard of the lemon drop trick quiet a long time ago at a karate tournament from an amazing athlete formerly from Australia. He disliked water so he had some kind of exceptionally bitter candy that he'd have between matches to help him crave drinks.
