I don't think we have anything to fear. Unless you run enough power over your speaker wires to make them glow, I don't think this process can make them any more efficient.

More seriously, I think this is a pretty cool discovery. I think we're in the Age of Revision/Efficiency where scientists are finding better ways to make everyday things.
