When I used to work in a machine shop, we'd have to pass some of the machined parts through a demagnetizer after surface grinding(which magnetizes the steel). You could feel the part get lighter as you hand passed it through the loop.

I started into a thought process where I was about to joke about your hand being mutated by the constant electromagnetic field but it ended with a memory from the first Stephen King short story I ever read where an astronaut returns to earth with an itchy palm and one day it hurts when he scratches it and it's because tiny eyeballs in his hand are staring back at him.

My own post derailed by my own thought process. I guess it was inevitable it would happen someday.
