Removing the Cable Towers for comparison was definitely a step in the wrong direction. "What the hell is my carpet doing to my stereo?" was scribbled in my listening notes. Comparatively, the music shone weakly through a less-transparent window, dynamic range was reduced, the toms sounded more like plastic buckets than drums and the grinding crunch of the heavy guitars was less crunchy - like cereal that sits too long in milk. I couldn't wait to switch back and continue listening with the Cable Towers again.

Removing the Cable Towers made the noise from my carpet more apparent. The music sounded distorted in comparison. When Milne played massive chords on the piano, the instrument sounded grainy as if the notes were blurred together. The clarity of the higher frequencies was also lessened so that the sharp attacks of the hammers on the strings sounded rounded off. Like early spring in North Carolina when the bright green plants are covered in yellow pollen, the musical colors were tainted. The effect of the Cable Towers was like a spring shower that washed off the pollen-covered trees and revived the vivid greens of new life.

I love how he describes them as stylish. Um. They look like sandwich boards littered all over your floor, dude. Hate to step on one of those in the middle of the night!

I wonder if they would be equally effective on hardwood floors. I think mine are making the music sound splintered and grainy.

That's because you have the cables running across the grain. They should be running WITH the grain.

This guy is doing it all wrong. The real trick is to suspend your cables midway btw the floor and ceiling. If you have no money left over after buying fat speaker wire at $300/ft., then looping duct tape down from the ceiling, around the wire, and then back up to the ceiling should work wonderfully.

And it'll be stylish!

But then why is the 6Moons.com review of the M80's the first one listed on their "Professional Reviews" page? Maybe it's just me, but many of 6Moons reviews seem a little... 'magic rocky' to me.

What I do is stretch all my cables and wires so they are only long enough to connect. That way they remain suspended in the air so they never come in contact with the floor at all. Also, it prevents any unnecessary bends in the cables so the signal gets the straightest and shortest path possible.

I run my cables on the floor to accentuate the bass signals.

To accentuate the bass I hope you have them run on the floor close to a wall and in corners.

Actually, I run them UNDER the floor in the BASSment.

I do at least 10 back and forth passes on each of my corners to accentuate the bass.

I run my cables 7’ off the ground so no interference from the carpet. Still I can’t seem to block out the pesky cosmic background radiation and due to the shortsighted of use of unequal cable runs in all compass directions I think I’m picking up some interference from the Earth’s magnetic field.

I agree with Jake. But, you should also crawl around on the floor to listen for the best corners for your cables.

I went from 3" bassboard in my TV room to 4 1/2" and noticed a difference.

I find it interesting how no one is commenting on Peter's keen observation. It's clear that 6moons.com are a few bricks short of a load, and Axiom's resident expert Alan has no problem making fun of their review of this ridiculous product. Why then are they the first professional reviewer in the list for the M80s? Shouldn't they be excluded since the review must be worthless? Now before I get flamed, I'm not a troll - I've been around for a while but rarely post. I have a set of M3 VaSSallo's, outdoor M3's, QS8's and a VP150. I've purchase M60's, M3's, M2's and QS4's for friends and family. I've visited the axiom factory and brought my Paradigm Reference 60's 250km in the back of a rental to perform a double blind test vs the Axiom M60's. I've met Ian, Amy, Noreen, Joe (RIP) and have the utmost respect for the people and the company. I'm confident there is a logical explanation, but I am more than a little curious as to why they feel the need to have a 6moons.com review on their website?!?
