Gosh. I work hard because hard work is rewarding. I'm lucky enough to have grown up with educated parents who emphasized doing well in school. I don't cynically judge those who aren't as fortunate as I am because I really don't know what it would be like to be in their shoes.

Another "Socketman" I see.

I get the "humor" of the shirt. The welfare system is so broken that it allows for so many people to take advantage of it and "mooch" off of the government. There are a lot of people that truly are trying and rely on welfare and they get a black eye from the ones that, as I call it, "scam the system." It is really sad.

So, looking at just the people that abuse the system, I see the humor in the shirt, but I personally work hard because I like having a job and the things that allows me to do for my family, and for others that are less fortunate.

For some welfare education based off of statistics (less to read), look here:
Welfare Statistics

The really interesting ones are that in 39 states, you can make more on Welfare than working a minimum wage job, in 6 states Welfare is better than working a $12/hr job, and in 8 states, you can sit at home on your butt watching your daytime trash talk shows on your 65" TV and "make" more money than a teacher. Nothing to encourage the freeloaders to stop freeloading.

EDIT: Wow. Move to Hawaii and get on Welfare. It is the same as working a $17.50/hr job.... AND IT IS IN HAWAII!!!

I have had more than my fare share of first hand experiences with Canadian welfare and its a career here. It is becoming epidemic scale with young women in our country. Not to mention drug dealers on welfare, having more kids for more a bigger paycheck. Luckily its still a free country and I have a right to my opinion. The US has obamacare now lets see how that works out for the middle class .

From what I've seen from many of our young men up here, it is a way of life with them as well.

The problem is, the 'welfare industry' on both sides of the border does not really want fewer people at the trough as that might diminish the size of their empire.

My wife is a health professional in our local ER & witnesses significant abuse daily - not only of our health care system but also with welfare. The problem is, no politician of any political stripe has the kahunas to take on this 'sensitive' issue, so it happily continues unabated.

It is very disheartening for regular tax paying citizens who attempt to foot these bills. Unfortunately, we are borrowing and/or printing money to try to cover these ever increasing costs...

Can we not do this again?

The truth is uncomfortable I guess.

I'm done...

Ok no more on the subject, I will find a more appropriate forum for my views. I did bitch about the gun play so fair is fair.
