Out of curiosity I did currency conversions of some of the prices here on the axiom site.

Apparently, the US prices are lower than the Canadian prices. Take the M80ti for example. $1,100 USD converts to $1,482 CND, as apposed to the $1,520 listed. I realize that if both Canadian and American prices are shown there will always be some discrepancy because the exchange rate fluctuates, but this is a $38 difference here. If you buy the Epic 80 home theater using the Canadian price, you will be paying $87 more than the converted US price.

I am in the process of comparing differnt subs, and price is important for my comparisons. Because I live in canada, am I stuck paying the listed canadian price in canadian dollars?

Unfortunately, because of the government attitude of adjusting the interest rate (on a seemingly weekly basis) to save the economy, the US/CDN $$ exchange rate has been held hostage. Last year it would have worked out to around $1700 CDN with the exchange (so $1520 would be a major bargain). Just last week the dollar was at $.72 which would work out to exactly $1520. It's pretty tough for any company to account for a dollar that swings more than a cent a week. It's probably been more volatile in 2003 than ever before. They'd almost have to change their prices on a daily basis to keep up, which wouldn't be very practical. I guess the way to look at it now is that Americans are getting a deal!!!

I understand that.. but can't Canadians just pay with US dollars and save some money, or are we limited to pay with Canadian money because we live here?

aha, good question. With the percent or so the banks take on $$$ conversion, there should still be a slight advantage. Since freight should be cheaper to Cdn destinations, it would be a little more profitable for Axiom than a US transaction. I don't see why they wouldn't do it.
