With dual 6 1/2" mids for a better frequency response over the QS8's???

95hz doesn't cut it for me, but I'd not hesitate buying a dual 6 1/2" quadrapole surround!

No. But I'm sure it would sell. Sell well. For people who overlook it due to it's lack of bass.

I would really like to see your impression of the QS8s after hearing them. Who knows? They may be quite adequate. Or more than adequate. Virtually every review I've read of them praises them as the ultimate surround speaker for any price.

Whether he liked(s) them doesn't really matter. He brings up a very valid point in that many people go off of statistics and charts to determine quality and accuracy. People will not buy a product if it was (supposedly) made in a country they don't like for crying out loud. So there must be many a people who pass up the QS8's because of statistical reasons.

Because people would (theoretically) have to crank up the sub's crossover so as not to "lose" that 20-40 Hz.

Assuming, of course, that they didn't have a Harman/Kardon which allows separate crossovers for all the channels...

Besides, it is debatable that below 100 Hz is where bass loses directionality. I prefer 60 Hz myself, but I have no problem living with 80. I doubt that the rolloff is so steep that I'd miss the 5 Hz.

um, when has sub 95Hz frequencies in the side surrounds ever been necessary. get a 7.1 reciever and place some M80s in the back surround channels for DVD-audio and SACD. but it is honestly not necessary for the side surrounds to go that low. That is what subs are for.

Also, considering the price of the QS8's, something bigger will probably be really expensive.

I guess I could see it for multichannel music... but movies are encoded to channel lower freq to fronts and sub not the surround channels.

Does anyone know how much information is in the 80-100Hz range in most movies' surround tracks?

Actually, I'd rather have Axiom make a center channel that covers 80-100 better before a surround that does. Even the VP150 leaves a noticeable dropoff there, I think about 6db in my room. (but I'm getting a receiver with variable crossover tonight, so I can set the cross to 90 or 100 if I want now...)

Unless a 40 hz crossover is used, I CAN tell.
