Anyone have a MP3 Server or Jukebox? I've seen a few like Integra's NAS. However, Im not willing to spend 2k on it.
Suggestions?

Personally, I just use my wife's iPod. Put it in the dock, hook the dock to the stereo, and presto! For $400, it's a better deal... You can also get a little remote for the thing, but we haven't done that yet.
I have an Linux based PC that's serving up the tunes. It has one flaw, it introduces power supply noise. Needless to say I don't use it. If I can find a sound card that has optical output, I think I could get around the noise problem. Then I would relocate the power to a different circuit.
Anyway, how do you like the IPOD? Is it easy to use? I have about 100GB of music and growing. I'm also tired of messing around with with a PC based solution. Only if I had more time...

I'll second the Ipod motion. I just got a new 40 GB Ipod and love it. You can take your complete cd collection anywhere. Car, work, home.
Its the best gadget purchase I,ve ever made, unless you consider speakers a gadget.

P.S. There is a thread in tech questions you may find imformative.

It's fantastic. Very easy to use (although the buttons are a little sensitive). Great interface.
I have a linux server (samba) with big hdd's that holds data for me... I just put everything on it, music, movies, tv shows, games, programs etc. Just networked it with my various other PCs and works out very well for me.
Airport Express allows you to stream your MP3s or lossless audio files wirelessly from your main computer to any stereo connected to it. It works for both Mac and PC, but you need to be running iTunes.
I'm drooling over this product myself, as I currently use an FM transmitter to get my tunes to various stereos around the house.
Assuming your main computer has a wireless card or access point attached... Otherwise, it's wired for you, sucka!
I actually designed an entire setup using embedded Linux with a special compiled kernel. It works with mirrored 160 GB hardrives. The OS resides on an IDE Compact flash drive. I'm keeping it organized with MYSQL (it stays on the mirror). I use winscp and ssh for uploading files and system management.
My whole house has CAT 5E, so wireless isn't too important to me. I just have a noisy power supply.
I'm actualy considering the SLIMP3 unit. www.slimp3.com
It has a slick interface.
I'm getting my wife an IPOD. She likes to workout to music. I want one too.
As far my home system. I would like something that will always be available. I don't like the idea of being home and finding out that my wife has the IPOD with her. Have you seen the new car stereos that front panel jacks? Now that what I want with the biggest IPOD available!!!
The home system is still up in the air.

Pmbuko,
check this out www.slimp3.com. It has wireless or ethernet.
The audio out are either digital or you use the analog. It ties to just about any OS available. It's only $200.00.
It sounds like the client software is stable.
This might be what I need and it's fairly inexpensive.

Primary issue(s) for me and dedicated devices is A) I want to be able to access all my music from anywhere (I even publish my collection via my server on the web, database style even), at any time. B) I encode my mp3s big so they take up lots of space compared to 128k you see around (VBR that averages ~200-300+). So 1-10gigs jsut doesnt cut it.... think 100G
I use the Linksys Wireless Media Adapter......I have been pretty happy with it.
