Hi all. I wanted to throw this out there for my audio friends first.

I am a die hard 9er fan (I know sad this year). I have season tickets that were my fathers for 40 years. He passed away and now I have the tickets. I have not had a problem selling the games that I cannot go to but this year has been a little more of a problem. I live in San Deigo now and have had to eat about 6 games.


My question is this. Is anyone interested in purchasing some games from me next year. I am not interested in selling select games as I have found that in doing this I end up stuck with all the tickets for the bad games. I am looking for someone that would be willing to purchase at least 3-5 games from me. I will only be going to one game if that. The cost per game is face value ($64 ea this year)and when the 49ers regain their greatness you will still be first in line to get those tickets from year to year. I will also sell playoff games at face value.

These tickets could not be any better (unless you were in a box)

You mention "bad games" ...this year, they outnumber the GOOD games.
Too bad....such a storied franchise......

When I was growing up, there was no professional football in Seattle prior to establishment of the Seahawks franchise in 1976. So, we got the broadcast of the 49ers game on TV every week. They were my team in the days of John Brodie and Gene Washington, among others.

Have you considered a ticket broker or something similar?

Keep the tickets. Go to a few games a year. Remember your Dad.

Don't season passes get purchased every year? Can't you just not get them next season? I know, I know... I must be missing something as to how it all works....

Mark, you have clearly never heard the incredible stories about the willing of Redskins or Steelers season tickets and also their prominence as the center pieces of divorce proceedings.

lomb7, I feel your 49ers pain. In the late 60s, the Steelers were the doormat of the NFL, then Chuck Noll and the 1970 and 1971 drafts happened. By 1973, the pain was gone and only shows up very rarely anymore. This year has been exceptional by anu standard.

I'm guessing the 49ers will resurface in 3-4 years via the draft and winter will be something that can be enjoyed rather than endured. Let's also remembr your boys had a pretty nice run of their own with Montana and Young. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that Joe was from Western Pennsylvania, as were George Blanda, Mark Bulger, Johnny Unitas, Joe Namath, Jim Kelly, Charlie Batch and Dan Marino, to name a few.

Someone was just telling me they put there name on th NY Giants waiting list 10 years ago and just got tickets this year and they were in the top row( im not sure if the years were exactly right but i know its over 5 years wait)

Mark, the other thing that sometimes comes into play is the notion of a Personal Seat License fee (PSL). This system is a mechanism by which franchise owners suck money from your wallet in a new and creative way - by requiring that you have a capital investment in the right to buy the tickets. That is, for premium seats, you pay a one-time PSL of say, $3000 which gives you the right to buy the season tickets. If you choose NOT to buy the tickets, the team could be allowed to simply re-sell your PSL rights to somebody else without refunding it to you. So, to recoup/retain your capital investment, you either have to continue to buy the seats or sell the PSL to somebody else.

Obviously, the contract language on these would vary from team to team, but the right to buy those seats could clearly be seen as an asset that ought not be squandered, but instead maintained for future speculation and profit.

I knew that season tix would be a hot commodity, I guess I just didn't understand why Craig didn't simply choose to not buy them for the coming season. I'm assuming now that his Dad had already purchased them for next year. I've never tried to buy season tix and don't know how far in advance of a season they're sold. I had assumed that they go on sale a couple of months before a season starts.

If I do not purchase the seats each year I give up the rights to them. My dad had nose bleeds in the 70's but was upgraded as people gave up their seats. I think that Packers have a waiting list of some amazing amount of years.

I will go to a broker as a last option. Going that route makes me feel like I am whoring out the seats. I would much rather sell them to someone that loves the 9ers and I can count on from year to year. Once you sit in these seats you can appriciate how great they are. When I sit in them I get flash backs of Rice, Young, Montana, Roger Craig and most importantly, my dad.

There was a story told by the ABC Monday Night Football crew about a Packer fan who put his name on the "Waiting List" for seasons in 1970.

This year that fan finally was eligible for the tix..........after 30+ years!!!

That franchise has the most dedicated fans.......

sorry to hear about your father. i can understand your pain, of the thought of having to give up the tickets.

if they were cowboys tickets, i would be all over it.
