I forget how I came across this website. Most are funny, but check out the "Lost my job today" "Women live longer" and "Signs" links.

Thanks for the link. I really like the "Stealth Fighter".

Geez, Mark, I got some work you could be doing.

I've seen most of those, but not all in one place. Great stuff.

Sign14 makes me want to move to the Canadian heartland right now. People Eating Tasty Animals, indeed.

Oooooo.....

.....that's lottsa stuff on aircraft.

That new stealth "paint" is a lot more effective than it was when the technology was simply called "reduced observables technology"

You never really appreciate the "Two Man Rule" about handling the stuff until the other guy has to make a head call(and YOU want to suddenly become invisible)

I'm sure by now you've all seen the farting preacher, right?

Hey F107 speaking of airplanes how do you like these approaches into the infamous Kai Tak airport....

Wild.

Woah...!!

Nothing "Stealthy" about those guys

I think it would take at least a couple of EP600s to out shoot that kinda noise, that is if you still had any hearing left after living there for a while!!

FM, the Kai Tak (now closed) airport in Honk Kong was regarded as the most difficult airport to approach in the world. The visual approach consisted of near vertical like descents to the pictured 'checkerboard' where a tight descending turn was made to the short and always crosswind laded runway. I've seen some pics of 747s landing while scraping an outboard engine along the asphalt!
Posted By: F107plus5 Re: Something to help pass a slow day - 11/04/05 12:19 PM
That almost makes some of the more harrowing landings I'd seen aboard an aircraft carrier(USS Kitty Hawk)during Nam, seem tame in comparrison

Hmmmm....I wonder if the only pilots who actually felt(relatively)secure landing at Kai Tak airport were ex-Navy types

F107, did you guys have any of the Douglas AD Skyraiders on board the USS Kitty Hawk?
Posted By: RickF Re: Something to help pass a slow day - 11/04/05 12:37 PM
I guess you did....USS Kiity Hawk, Vietnam

I'm gonna stop complaining about the overwater-oversod-overrunway approach to Oakland International now...

Ever fly into Templehof in Berlin? That's a disaster waiting to happen. I hear they closed or are going to close it, finally.

Or the approach into Dwight? "Is that a deer on the strip? Pull up! Pull up!"

Alright, another aviation enthusiast. Shawn do you fly?

Some other neat pics from the Airliners.net site is the big guys landing at St. Maartens.

Do a search on that site for St. Maartens and you'll see some wild shots!
Posted By: F107plus5 Re: Something to help pass a slow day - 11/04/05 09:00 PM
OK Guys!!...Some of those shots are real gems

A few of the shots of Kai Tak remind me of some of my WORSE(Ok...maybe Average)landings on Microsoft Flight Simulator And St. Maartens reminds me of some of my better ones

Funny......I've never before had a fear of flying.....

Oh Rick, I only wish. I was short on two things - smarts & means!! But not in that order!! HaHa.

I am facinated with flight, though. I get awe struck when I see one - regardless of size. I still remember the first time I ever saw a picture of the Concorde. Man that thing looked fast even just sitting there. Imagine my disappointment at 12yrs old having to fly to London on a 747 instead of the Concorde!! (Actually, I was pretty psyched as it was my first flight!)

I think it's in the blood. My Grandfather was AirForce in WW2. One of my biggest regrets was that I never got a chance to talk to him about those times. I had "other" distractions in my teens......(.)(.)

Shawn you definitely don't need the 'smarts', I'm living proof of that. I started flying over 23 years ago and have a few thousand hours under my belt and am still in awe of it all. I can go over to the Airliners.net site and look around for hours at a time, I've even caught a couple of pictures of planes I've flown...they have some great pictures!

You ought to take up flying, it's never too late!
