Add these folks to the list of another 'sorry ass' internet company...sorry ass.

Edit....and yep, they did take the money out of my account.

Well that don't sound good. They should have never charged your account without the product in hand. One to be advoided imo.

Yup not too cool. I ONLY order from companies that don't charge until the order is shipped, with rare exceptions for some "known good" online stores. My last horror story was an FM transmitter for an MP3 player so I could listen to the player in my car. Part "in stock," card was charged, got an email saying the part is not in stock, company folded. Visa reversed the charge after a mass of calls and emails. Never again. One thing to watch out for with Amazon: If you order something and get buyers remorse and want to cancel, good luck. Their policy is that they won't cancel an order after it has been sent to shipping. Well, the problem is that most orders for "in-stock" merchandise are INSTANTLY tagged as "This order is being processed for shipping." So your only recourse is to send it back at your own expense. So make sure you want to buy before you click that mouse.

I have a few instances of the same issue, and these were all out of NY, they ignore emails and phone calls to cancel the order. Then ship it weeks later and when I refuse delivery, it gets thier attention and they start talking to me. I refuse to pay the shipping charges they tell me I will need to pay. I just contact the credit card company, usually American Express and they deal with the seller. Usually takes 30 to 45 days, but I always get my 100% credit, and till the dispute is settled, my account shows the charge, but I'm charged no interest or fees.

Actually I must refrain from being too harsh on these folks. This morning I received an email from ElectronicOutfitters.com and they apologized for the mistake and credited the monies back into my account. Apparently they showed the item in stock and it didn't show as out of stock until after I placed the order. So I can't speak bad of them.

Believe it or not the same thing happened to me just this morning with another company who Rick (Wid) told me about, they showed 29 in stock and within a few minutes after ordering I received a phone call from a gentleman from this company who apologized and said the item was actually out of stock and they would have it in about 3 days. They now show 80 'on order'.

That darned 'Channel Plus WPW D7.1' wall plate is a tough little critter to get your fingers on at the moment.

With Amazon you can refuse the delivery, and they will take it back at their expense. Amazon even instructs you to do this. Of course not as easy as canceling upfront before it ships. It doesn't work if someone else at your home signs and accepts it.

I've had to do that before with ecost. The morons shipped me the wrong receiver once. I noticed it just as the UPS man was walking back to his truck, so I stopped him and told him to send it back, which he did. At that point I called ecost, explained what happend and ended up canceling the order.
