I know we have more than a few Kinks fans here, so I thought I'd do my bit to let everyone know Ray Davies is going on tour in support of his new album. I picked up my ticket Saturday night, and I can't wait. Here's a list of tour dates.

I heard some of his new album on the radio (launches tomorrow, I think) and it sounded really good.

I also found a nice promotional video for the album. Mac folks will probably want to use this link.

Not necessarily all at the same time, of course.

Oh I forgot! Thanks for the link Mike. Variety Playhouse, my favorite dive.

The last time I saw Ray was at the Variety. The time before that was with The Kinks at Chastain Park. Before that...wow. High school wasn't that long ago, was it?

A very brief review of last night's show:

If you're a Kinks fan (heck, even if you're not) and Ray is playing anywhere close, you've gotta go. I'm a pretty serious Kinks fan, so my opinion is clearly biased, but that was easily one of the best concerts I've seen in a long time. Ray was in fine form, the band is tight, and every bit of the showmanship you may remember from the Kinks concerts of your youth is still very much in evidence. One image I won't be able to shake for a while is Ray balancing a beer bottle on his head while singing "Low Budget".

Here's the setlist. I'm sure the order of the songs is jumbled, but I think all of the songs are here:

I'm Not Like Everybody Else
Where Have All the Good Times Gone
20th Century Man
After the Fall
Oklahoma U.S.A.
Village Green
Picture Book
Johnny Thunders
Animal Farm
The Getaway (Lonesome Train)
Next Door Neighbour
A Long Way From Home
Set Me Free
The Tourist
Stand Up Comic
Tired of Waiting for You
Creatures of Little Faith
Sunny Afternoon
Dead End Street
Low Budget
Till the End of the Day
Things Are Gonna Change (The Morning After)
All of the Day and All of the Night
Lola
You Really Got Me
