Hey All,

I was wondering if anyone knew of a place to get bulk speaker wire in the black PVC cover like the type Axiom sells. I like the look of the black PVC, but at 1.05CAD/ft it's hard to justify it over the other options out there. The cheapest I've found is this one from Parts Express. Does anyone know of any other options?

Yes I know black doesn't sound better, but I'm tired of the copper look. Thanks for the suggestions!

This is the cheapest I've seen, not sure about shipping.

You're in YQR, Basstek? Check at Inland A/V - they're on 7th Ave, they're a pro audio place, so expect to be treated like sh*t just being John Q. Public off the street, but you'll probably be able to find something suitable there.

No, I don't live there but had to pick up two dist amps and a FrameStor in a hurry there once.

Ryan, the jacket on that PE wire looks to be a bit on the thick side. Here's something else to consider. As was mentioned, keep in mind shipping costs if you don't buy wire locally.
HomeDad's link takes you to 16/2 wire. This link on the same site should be 12/2. The same size as Axiom wire.
I wil just mention that the axiom wire is indeed very nice to work with. oh yeah and it says "AXIOM" right on it lol
Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I'll check out Inland A/V like you mentioned Bren, I usually stay out of the high-end shops for the reason you mentioned. Looks like I have some thinking to do, luckily my M3's are about 4 weeks away so I'll have plenty of time to do it.

Oh they're not a boutique home audio shop, they're PRO audio... like guys that do this for a living buy their stuff there... not a snobby HT shop.

That makes a little more sense, I was wondering why a high-end shop would be a good place to buy wire.
This might sound stupid, but what's the purpose of the fuzzy stuff in the middle of the jacket?
I got the Axiom wire for the following reasons:

1. Super flexible to work with, can even replace your shoelaces in a pinch.

2. Mined from the same copper vein as the internal wiring so it is electroncally balanced and aligned to magnetic north.

3. Heat cured in Axioms own blast furnace.

4. Pre broken in and automatically directional.

5. Oxygen content replaced with nitrogen just like in race cars.

6. Can be tri-amped and tri-wired.

That should be more than enough food for thought

This may sound even stupider, but it's my guess (nothing more) and I'm throwing it out here just to see if it's correct, or if I'm FOS. (No cracks, now )

That fuzzy stuff is a strong twine, which, when not cut so the ends fray as you see in the photo, is in it's normal "twined" state. It's placed inside the jacket for strength so the two wires, which are carrying all the important stuff, don't bend and break as easily as they might without the twine. Whadaya think? Sounds good to me!

Jack, that sounds good to me! I thought it might be some guru science which will somehow improve the sound of our speakers beyond the use of conventional zipcord wire.

LOL! NUTS! I shoulda said that's its purpose. It makes the electrons flow in the right direction.
It's actually woven vine fiber that has been blessed by a shaman so that the electron can fulfill their true potential (more SPLs)...
Actually the wire is just very cheap clothesline thats been recycled.
You sure? I could have sworn it was made of wombat hair...

Actually, Jack, you're correct. That stuff is just fiber to add tensile strength to the wire.
I thought it was for insulation, for that warm sound.
