Greg, strangely, I don't think you're going to find a center channel stand with a top plate much wider than the 14" on the stand recommended above. At least, I haven't run across any.
I didn't have much bucks to spend, so I purchased some $40
Sanus 16" wooden speaker stands, bought a small, inexpensive 1x8 piece of pine, spray painted a 16" long hunk of it flat black to match the stand, and screwed it onto the top plate of the stand, effectively raising the stand's height to 17". It worked fine, and looked decent.
It isn't really required that the top plate of the stand be as wide as the speaker. The stand's 7" wide plate probably would have sufficed, but I just felt better doubling it's width, even though that was still narrower than the VP150.
Since speaker stands come in pairs, if you wanted, you could put the stands side by side, use a 24" piece of 1x8 (or longer, if necessary) and attach it to both top plates, effectively making one stand out of two.
