Okay, so I've been testing my speakers since I received the Epic 60/500 system last month and have continually been impressed, but last night I heard something truly amazing. I was just finishing up playing a level in Lost Planet: Extreme Condition for X-Box 360 when I stood up and moved to the back of the room to switch off the system. I was well behind the position of my QS8's--maybe 4 feet--when I began to hear sounds that were distinctly behind me!?! I thought it was truly incredible that these surround speakers were able to create sounds so precise that they didn't seem to be emanating from the speakers themselves. I'm not very educated on sound or how it's created, but my lord, why would anyone need a 6 or 7.1 speaker set-up when 2 QS8's seem so efficient? That being said, I'll probably upgrade to 6.1 when I buy my new receiver this fall. I'm sure things can only get better from here...
The QS8s are impressive, that is pretty amazing. I guess you were hearing sound reflected from the back wall? Just what the design of the QS8 is supposed to do, radiate the sound in all directions except to the listener sitting between, causing it to be very dispersed as it surrounds you.
Good to hear. I just placed an order for 2 of them today
A part of me wishes I had another cheaper theatre system before I purchased Axiom so I could see how good they really are!
can you get cash back at costco? I normally shop at the one in the NE (my church is over there, we go after church on sundays usually)
I'm told you can. One of my co-workers always shops there and has returned things months after she originally bought them for a full refund. One of the perks of being a member, she always says. I'd be sure to check first, though, just to be certain.
A friend of mine purchased a stainless steel gas bbq from Costco. At the time it sold for around $1100 (CDN) and he paid about $750 as it was a floor model. He used it for about 8 months then returned it claiming the unit performed poorly. They gave him a full refund!!!
