I received my Axiom EP 500 v.2 last week and have been Really Wow'ed with it's brute output power, finess, articulation and musical accuracy!!!

The EP500 has fit my floor plan best, fills my 5300cf home theater (opened to a 2000cf dining area) room with cement slab shaking, visceral impact bass that extends well beyond audibility (my hearing has been tested @ 0-15db threshold over most of the audible range) and never seems to strain or give up, always well controlled, musical with superb low bass tonality that sounds Right...I'm impressed (so are my neighbors, hehe)!!!

The folks here at Axiom (Jean, JC, Alan and Brent) have been Extremely friendly, helpful and professional in adding my decision between the EP500 or the EP600, but I believe the 500 is all I'll need for a Long Time! Well engineered, well made and a Superb performer at an Excellent value offer (now to get the rest of my HT up-to-par)!

Due to my minimal experience with subs, I can only quantify my comments and observations through my study of keyboard and instrumental music for 14 years (lower brass\bass major), a teacher of wind instruments for 5 years, an audiophile for 30 years and a lover of the art of music...forever!

If you need to consider a smaller, more cost effective, but powerful sub-bass system for your large HT setup, consider the EP500, you won't be disappointed!!

Thanks for posting you thoughts, Ted, and I'm delighted you are pleased with the EP500. Me too!

Ted (Theo),

Thanks for posting your wonderful review of the EP500. I kinda thought it would have enough output for your big space. Still, it's great to get feedback, especially from a an accomplished musician/teacher. What better endorsement of the EP500's musical capabilities than from a bass major!

Wait until you hear it on tuba. . .I just picked up some CDs of New Orleans bands in which the tuba is the predominant bass backup.

Thanks Alan,

Bowed and pluked string bass also has superb timbre, effortless depth and articulate attack\decay sonics with the EP500 addition! It is as Great for music as on my HD DVD movie soundtracks!!

Best of all, the 500 was so easy to place and achieve instant success in my large room! Located to the right of my 67" DLP display with the bass module to the left, my overall HT audio is seamless and smooth at all my listening positions!

Take Care,

Ted
I keep hearing so much about this EP500 and i've never been quite completely satisfied with our EP350.
Someone help push me over the edge. I dare you.
Help push.
They're damn impressive, And not that much bigger than the 350.

That do it?

Chesseroo,

I Double Dare You-Triple Dare You -You're Chicken if you don't and you Mother Wears A... B... !!! Your family will disown you and you will loose all of your hair and money if you don't order the EP500 within the next day ...well, maybe a few weeks (got to give you a little break, hehe)!!!

Actually, I really have no room to advise, as the only other sub I ever owned (1 week) was a 12" Veloydne that listed for $400...but the EP500 TOTALLY Blows it away in Every Department!!! I Know quality audio reproduction when I hear it and the EP500 is the best sub I've ever heard...sounds just like Live Music!

However, as always, I do "A Lot" of homework in making purchases, especially over the net with a product sight unseen and hearing unheard! Everywhere I read on HT forums, equipment rerviews and owner testimonies, the EP500 IS a great $$$ value vs performance and can compete with the best HSU, SVS and other great subs have to offer!!!

Hopefully, Axiom owners who can validate this with experience will speak up. If you have any doubt, get the 500 in for the 30-day trial period and I bet we'll be seeing your 350 for sale in the papers!

Good Luck,

Ted
Push, push, push.
There is always the EP400, we need a review

Hi Joe,

Grammarbout, what's that (hehe)??? Well, I didn't "LOSE", got my EP500 and I'm all ! How is your 500 performing? Curious if chesseroo is convinced yet? Yes, the 400 looks to probably be the "Best" 8" on the market, but at just $100 more, I'd stick with the 500!

Here's hoping we're blest with another quiet hurricane season!!!

Take Care,

Ted
The 400 is designed for people where space considerations are important hence the close price difference. If space is not that important then I agree the 500 is the better choice.

Agreed! My choice of the EP500 over the competition was made due to space limitations! Industry reviews of the 400 should be real positive!
