Hi all,

I'm trying to get my Toshiba SD 6000 DVD player to upconvert through my Rotel 1056 surround sound. Trouble is, there's no HDMI input on this freakin thing! Anyone have any idea on how this 2 year old Rotel wouldn't have an HDMI input and is there a possible work-around where you could have a cable that is HDMI on one end and Component Video / or some other compatible input into the Rotel?

Why not just hook the DVD player direct to your tv or projector? Very few receivers from 2 years ago had HDMI ability.

...My LG HD LCD Tv only has one HDMI input...and that is already taken up with the HDMI connection from my DVR.

Let's say I chose to hook the DVD directly to my HD tv via HDMI. Would I still run the Coax Digital cable from the DVD player to my Rotel for sound?

You can always get an HDMI switcher....

This is a 4 way switcher but you can get them in most configurations 2-way, 4 way and etc...

Mike, I'm afraid you're going to have to use an external HDMI switcher. Monoprice.com has several.

HDMI is digital, while component is analog, so you'd have to have a video DAC/decoder in the middle. I'm guessing that would be prohibitively expensive, at least when compared to the switcher.

Yep, or you can also run an Optical out from the DVD to the Rotel for digital sound.

Yes, you could still hook up either toslink (optical) or coax, which are both a digital signal to the receiver to get the Dolby and DTS signals for movies. Is HDMI the only hookup for your DVR on the back, or do you have Component?

My DVR has both HDMI and Component.
