Hello there. I have been researching systems for my new home theatre (17' x 25') and came across the axiom epic grand master 500 in wall theatre system. I would also add another pair of the QS8-v2's to complete the 7.1 setup... I just need a little info from someone who has had some hands on experience with any of the products that come with the grand master package. I will mainly be using the room for movie viewing obviously and maybe a little music about 90-10. I am not limited on space so a floorstading option is also an option but I "mainly the wife" would like to have the sleek look of the in-wall speakers system. With all the research I have done I feel that the axiom would be the best performer that fits in my price range. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome Steel,

From what I've heard, the inwall/onwall speakers were designed to give you similar performance to their bookshelf/center big brothers. I'm guessing a step up to the m60's or 80's would give you better overall bass. However, the 500 is an incredible sub, so you would most likely be fine.

Maybe some of the others can give you input, on comparing the m22s/w22s and m150/w150 as I have not had that chance yet.

Keep in mind the onwall speakers will require a bit more contstruction and wiring to accomplish, but that should not be a big deal if your in the middle of construction.

What are you driving the system with for a receiver?

Steel,

I realize this is not a direct answer to your question, but if WAF (wife acceptance factor) is the main thing driving you to in-wall versus towers, I would at least show her the BEAUTY of the M60/80 towers in High Gloss Cherry before you give up on the Towers.

My wife was against the tower look as well until she saw the high gloss cherry (which is now available as a free upgrade). It is still a veneer finish, but the speakers look amazing compared to the standard finishes. Several folks here have commented on how they passed the wife's test when they came out of the box. (though you may still have to put the grills on to appease her. \:\) )

Good luck, I'm sure you'll be quite happy either way.

Unfortunately, that promo is over

The HG promotion is still displaying on the Axiom homepage. The display cycles with the other picture so you have to wait a minute to see it.

Yep, I called them yesterday and they confirmed it's still on.

I have a Onkyo TX-SR875 that I would like to use. I would not be opposed to an upgrade but hopefully I wont have to for a few years.

Thanks

wicsteel,

I heard on the grapevine that Axiom will be introducing an M60 and M80 in-wall tower speaker in the next 2-3 months. I would phone them and see if you should hold out, your room is quite big.
