You might want to wait until around the holiday times (Thanksgiving and Christmas). I think that is when they usually go on sale if I remember correctly.
Well I didn't want to make it sound like they are "actually doing it" this year, I have no clue. It's probably best that you call, but I thought the last couple of years they had it around the holidays. Doesn't mean that they are this year, though.
We don’t have any promotion which I am aware of planned for the Holiday Seasons. However, the finish which you are looking for is available from our Custom Vinyl Shop at a modest 12% cost option.
I think I would wait and see, I seem to recall the HG going on sale 2 years in a row just before the holdays and then earlier this year they had an overstock sale.
On the other hand, as an HG Cherry owner, I can tell you it's worth the 12% (though I did get it when it was on promotion).
The reason not to get the high gloss finishes is that they can cast some reflections of light in your room, so if you find that distracting, a matte finish may be more for you. Personally, the reflection doesn't bother me, but it's not for everybody.
I ordered some samples one of them being the HG cherry. I can definately see what you mean about the reflections. It is stil hard to tell if this will bother me or not, but to me they look so much better then the standard boston cherry finish which frankly IMO looks cheap.
I'm waiting to start construction of my theater room before I get speakers and since money will be tighter at that time I was planning on getting them through the Factory outlet but if this HG cherry upgrade happens I wouldn't be able to pass it up.
But you forget Jason, trade ins usually show up on the Ebay site. Factory Outlet is just that, FACTORY outlet speakers not returns or trade ins, or so Axiom maintains.
Ahh, very good point, I suppose there is a reason they call them _Factory_ outlet speakers... In another 2700 posts or so I should hopefully have things like that burned into my brain.
If I remember correctly the last time that the free upgrade to high gloss cherry was offered was a couple years ago around this time. It started in August and only lasted a couple months at the most. The reason for doing it was that it was being discontinued apparently. So, I am confused. Why is this finish still around? I purchased my speakers when this free upgrade was available and the only reason that I didn't do the free upgrade was because it was supposed to be discontinued. I even called and asked them about this and this is what they said. So if I wanted to upgrade to m80's somewhere down the line I wouldn't be able to get a matching finish. This kind of makes me mad because I thought that it was a beautiful finish and would have went with it otherwise.

That was the case until they found a new supplier last year or so... I'll check for the thread this afternoon possibly.
