I just purchased the Oppo Blu-ray player and was struggling to get anything but two channel down-mixed audio out when connecting up to my Onkyo 805 via hdmi. I came back to the forums here, remembering there was a similar thread. Set the player to bitstream and advanced and still didn't solve the problem. Started tinkering around in the Onkyo settings with anything that seemed like it might be relevant and still nothing. At this point it had been about an hour of tinkering around with settings and I was starting to get frustrated, so I called the Oppo customer service. They had the problem located and fixed in about one minute! I just had to go into the hardware setting and not let the hdmi pass through the audio. I have to say that Oppo is right up there with Axiom as far a customer service.

Thanks for the info as I am planning to purchase the Oppo Blu-Ray player later this year.

The knowledge of the Oppo service people is right up there with the best of them. Generally speaking, I have found their knowledge of how their or any other similar equipment interacts with the manufacturers AVR's and Pre-Pros is far superior to the people who are actually selling the stuff.
