Help chosing rears for a 7.1 set up. - 12/11/01 07:39 PM
In a 7.1 setup I have decided to go with M22's for the fronts, a VP150 for the center and 2 QS4's for the sides (or left and right surrounds). My problem is chosing the rear surrounds. The back of my room is in the shape of the 3 sided portion of an octagon with the flat wall being where the window is in the center from floor to ceiling, and then the other two walls coming off at angles. I measured my rear wall last night and I have 6 1/2 inches on either side of the window to mount my rear surround speakers. I would like to use 2 more QS4's, but the QS4's are 9 inches wide, so they would not fit. The QS2's are only 5.25" inches wide so I guess they would work. I also have heard some people sugget direct radiating speakers for the rears and the M1 at 6.5 inches looks like it would fit as well. My rear seats will be about 2 to 3 feet from the wall. Which ones would blend better with the rest of my sytem? Since the speakers are tapered in the rear, is the width measurement the front or back of the speaker? If it is the front, which speaker could I step up to and still fit in my 6.5" space? Thanks.
